I completely agree. Without a verifiable paper trail on 2A, I can’t support Barrett at this point. Like you, I’m almost certain that I’d prefer Grant between the two for that reason.

Agreed. The objections to her are based on nothing but prejudice. Reagan was given bad advice about O’Conner, who wasn’t a Federal judge and hadn’t—and never did—mature beyond the “splitting the baby” phase of jurisprudence.

It’s pretty clear there are some Freepers who don’t like her and question her judicial philosophy simply because she’s Catholic! The late Antonin Scalia was and Justice Thomas is a Catholic!
2A is the most important issue. We lose that, it’s over. The left shoved abortion upon America with ease. I would find it extremely difficult to reverse abortion. There are many women who are actually middle of the right and sway right who nevertheless are uneasy about eliminating “choice”. It’s pure emotionalism. We need an ironclad conservative originalist court.
Most of the Catholic Freepers here ignore what Pope Frank says, even the the Catholic Church dictates that the Pope is the “Vicar of Christ” on earth.
So this judge would probably ignore the pope too.
And aren’t justices supposed to be ugly? Can you have gravitas if you’re beautiful?

Agreed on 2A, and this isn’t the time to be taking risks on someone who *might* be good on the issue. This court will almost certainly be taking up a decisive 2A case within the next few years. I don’t want to find out the hard way that we took the wrong chance.
I’m not opposed to female SCOTUS justices.
We currently have FOUR!
Only about 36% of U.S. Court of Appeals judges are women.
This is the pool that Supreme Court justices should be chosen from. We already have a court that is 44% female!
Is it a good idea to make it 56%?
Males are a large majority in the pool of prospects. Why should they be a MINORITY on the Supreme Court?
They shouldn’t!
