at first, it was suggested the Skripal’s may have injected fentanyl; now heroin enters the picture in the latest mad story. and don’t forget Pablo Miller, or the fact Porton Down is in the area.
Craig Murray and his readers are not pro-Trump; are not from the right of politics yet, on this subject, the blog is essential reading. comments begin with “newest”, contain lots of the propaganda being spread in the British MSM, especially BBC and The Guardian:

5 Jul: Craig Murray: The Amesbury Mystery
We are continually presented with experts by the mainstream media who will validate whatever miraculous property of “novichok” is needed to fit in with the government’s latest wild anti-Russian story. Tonight Newsnight wheeled out a chemical weapons expert to tell us that “novichok” is “extremely persistent” and therefore that used to attack the Skripals could still be lurking potent on a bush in a park.

Yet only three months ago we had this example of scores from the MSM giving the same message which was the government line at that time:

“Professor Robert Stockman, of the University of Nottingham, said traces of nerve agents did not linger. He added: ‘These agents react with water to degrade, including moisture in the air, and so in the UK they would have a very limited lifetime...

According to the Daily Telegraph today, the unfortunate Charlie Rowley is a registered heroin addict, and if true Occam’s Razor would indicate that is a rather more likely reason for his present state than an inexplicably persistent weaponised nerve agent...

***Naturally, there is no mention in all the reports today of MI6’s Pablo Miller, who remains the subject of a D notice...

For all of us doing our homework we know for instance that VX nerve agent hydrolysis and is subsequently subjected to further oxidation etc as you can see in the ref given above

Is the same argument valid for Novichok?

Vladimir Uglyov, one of the men credited with inventing the “Novichok” series of nerve agents, told The Independent that he was unsurprised that the substance had hung around.

“Unlike some of my colleagues, I’ve always said that it is very stable,” he said. “It can persist for years, with nothing much happening to it. There is a very, very, slow process of evaporation.”

According to the now-retired scientist, “Novichok” can bury itself in paint, trees, and, perhaps, in wooden benches: “It can get in and remain there for a very long time. If it is on a neutral surface, it will only degrade on account of evaporation. And that would be a long process.”
