We need a double, massive wall with a two-way road, patrolled by the military, in between.

easily take out a camera, and
underground sensors are useful
only on high traffic trails.
The coyotes will figure out where
these sensors are located and route
their contraband to areas not covered.

Not mutually exclusive. We need both the wall and 100% scanning. Without that, they will just tunnel under the wall or punch holes in it eventually. We need both the wall and full monitoring of the wall. We need to stop this invasion in its tracks.
I’m not naive however. The very next president, either commie Rat or GOP Globalist, will halt all wall construction and flood us with illegals again. BOTH parties want it. Trump is the only barrier to it.
