My father was in Santiago when the government fell, he wound up stuck in an airport trying to get out for about a week. Among the things he has talked about, he said the Chileans had guns, but could not buy ammunition. He said they constantly asked him to bring ammo on his return trips, which he refused to do. He also said at the end, they only thing they had to eat was eggs. He has a photo of a huge restaurant style refrigerator with literally nothing inside.
A number of soy boys were triggered by the guy's shirt. The video is highly entertaining.
They mention 130,000 arrested while neglecting that almost all spent a short period of detention and were released. Only a handful were imprisoned for various crimes and a few thousand were disappeared.

I am at a loss why anyone would be championing Pinochet in the US any more than Guevarra. As a American, Republican, conservative, whatever, Pinochet is bad and we might as we well be supporting Stalin or Mao. Hard to complain about Guevarra if the alternative is Pinochet. Good both are dead.

Good for the Patriot Prayers! Pinochet was the greatest hispanic leader of the 20th century. I’ve often thought that America needs a Pinochet because of the Leftists creeps here.

He was a dictator that we helped install, that stayed in power for years past whatever the hell he was supposedly saving Chile from. The first chance Chile got, they got rid of him. Not exactly the mark of a “hero” in the end.
Sorry, not my bag to be a cheerleader from that. Dont care if he hated communism or liked capitalism, like a lot of people here love to cite as a reason why they think we ought to cheer this dude. Mobutu Sese Seko didn’t like commies either. Do we have to venerate that guy as well?

You need to read up a bit on Chilean history if you think Pinochet was a bad person or any bit comparable to Che. He saved his country from becoming a Cuba, as the Allende Communists were following that track to a tee.
Pinochet and Franco are national heroes of Chile and Spain. They saved their nations from Soviet Marxism (a la Cuba).
For this the left will never forgive them. They are the first men who, in the 20th century, showed the world that the “inexorable, ‘scientific’” advance of socialist communism COULD be stopped by men who had the WILL to do so.

I would suggest not “thinking” so frequently. The biggest bootlickers of dictators are the first ones to end up in front of their firing squads.
