Do not be surprised if legal cigarettes made from ganja (cannabis) hit the streets soon.
Major producers like Carreras are probing that and other cannabis possibilities, as increasing competition from illegally imported cigarettes continues to burn deeper into the profits of the legal trade.
It is no secret that British American Tobacco (BAT), the parent company of Carrerras, has, like other major US tobacco dealers including Phillip Morris, been looking at the cannabis market and the possibility of producing mild cigarettes restricted by the legal content of the main cannabinoids cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), although only THC is psychoactive.
Carreras Limited's Managing Director Marcus Steele has said that, like parent company BAT, Carreras is prepared to compete in a legal cannabis environment.
As long as it is legal, we are in the combustible business. It happens to be cigarettes, but if tomorrow morning it is cannabis, it is another product in the combustible side of the business. I am sure we would be more than interested, Steele said at last Thursday's sitting of the Jamaica Observer Press Club.
He said that anyone who has been tracking developments at BAT, which owns Carreras and several other tobacco companies in Latin America and the Caribbean, would understand how it has been approaching the issue of smoking cannabis.

Note the major (some US) corporates mentioned in the article. Took some hell from several here that RJ Reynolds is in the same "advocacy" for... legalization-- to make up for their dwindling cash flow from an even worse addictive product... tobacco/nicotine. Yet another vegetable based, SMOKED, product (with 101 not well understood carcinogens naturally in "cured" c.sativa, btw). Brit/American Tobacco was Brown & Williamson, which was American Tobacco which WAS... The Duke Family (of Durham, NC and Duke Univ. fame).
So, now it is time to ask (in no particular order)-- 1)John Boehner (who is head lobbyist for the "cannabis" "industry"- whose daughter is married to a ganja fuming Rastafarian- imagine that connection, and the threat is must have, or does present) 2.) Senator Burr (the current moron chair of Senate Intel. Committee, a corrupt committee if ever there was one) of NC. and, 3.) Thom Tillis Senator, NC. another "owned" by Tobacco, Inc.
Senators.... who say they are "conservative". In a JEB! ("they're so fertile, those "mexicans"--quote).
Start by asking them-- 1.)"Aside from Phillip Morris, mentioned in this rather revealing article- from your many close financial backers from Tobacco, especially the largest-- RJ Reynolds (who imports burly tobacco to the US from...... Zimbabwe, the "successful" anti-white farmer Marxist nightmare whose politics are being copied right now by South Africa)- what is RJ Reynolds doing to promote "legalized" narcotic cigarettes in the US, and what are their plans to revive their industry with another addictive and now in this case, narcotic product.
2nd. Question: do either of you support the notion that this would "provide additional "needed" federal tax revenue. This being the argument of the Democrat party for more than 50 years for tobacco, as championed by Dick Reynolds (DNC Finance Chair for decades). That is-- are you in favor of the taxes this destructive industry would provide, not to mention the campaign money they give to you and to your former Republican (in name only) colleague, John (hiccup) Boehner. Ole John, who resembles more a Tammany Hall olde style Tavern Democrat (look it up, folks-- it describes their party to a T... for Tammany, and C for clintoon, and L for LBJ and ...etc.)
Signed, Look Down Your Nose Puritanic Dudley Do-Right (And no, I'm not, these are valid questions and observations that Florida's for the People John Morgan cannot, could not and will not answer---For the People, LOL. Hat tip to Floridian FReepers who have been there since the Re-Count).
Just some questions. For which there are current answers known to some-- but not these idjits who remind me of the character from Dr. Zhivago-- the apparatchik/survivor, Komarovsky (played by Rod Steiger).
Whut?...........................
m’kay
To Mariner, and RegulatorCountry for your ping lists... as applicable.
PS- Going to write the Qs to Burr and Tillis— just for giggles. Boehner is hopeless. The ganj and the booze explains most, if not all of his useless owned behaviour.
No one of libertarian land is going to like this post— but— “I Shot the Sheriff-But I didn’t Shoot the Deputy”. Yah Mahn, nooooo problem. LOL.
Like Panama Red wrote “Thank the Lord, for that good ole Booze- it’s pretty safe... and easy to use”. Pharmacologically speaking. And headed to Thunder Road this weekend.
Why not just dip flavored cigarillos in MJ oil like everyone else?
Say,.... “whut” again......LOL.
Real time article on the “interests” of Big Tobacco to “market” narcotic cigarettes in “legal” Jamaica. The presence in the article of currently major corporate entities- BAT, and Phillip Morris in said marketing.
This extends prior FR discussion on “legalize it” it’s benign, etc. and the truth about who is behind this. That it is not benign to our youth, nor is it the Colorado or Mendocino small growers who are the power— but our friends of Tobacco, Inc. Lung cancer and other, not optional with habituation. OK?
Sorry for the blindside. Hope this explanation helps. Enjoy. Let’s “burn one”. LOL.
Sure mon eez da ganja
“Dave, DAAAVE!!” “Dave’s not here, Maaaan!”
“Babylon by Bus”.... and “Trenchtown Rock”.
Fascinating article. A “tag” to others on FR who might be interested.
Don’t take myself seriously, much— but do take the research (my field) seriously, about this chemical THC. And, as an advocate for cultivation of CBD only producing cannabis varietals to produce non-narcotic, non-opioid CBD oil for vaping and topical pain prevention.
While Tobacco is working to hook people on another addictive agent. Love your screen name, and... am through babbling for now.
Perhaps I heard wrong, but I don't believe there is a whole lot of combusting going on in the cannabis world these days.
I predict this PP attempt at a conversation is going NOWHERE!
Well, apparently not to the Jamaican branch of the operations. Filter tip ganja cigarettes, cheap and... combustible high. Think of the 2nd hand smoke.... LOL. But, should say-— RJ Reynolds, and other biggies are also IN the vaping biz..... shell corporations and such. Buuuut, they would have to be exposed, and don’t have the time to “do the book”.
More taxes, more government..... yeah, that’s the ticket. My argument is against all of this. Sticking to Single Malt Islay and others.
Then why arent they making cigs out of federally legal hemp that has all the CBD but negligible legal amounts of THC?
I’m not sure I understand your rant.
“This extends prior FR discussion on legalize it its benign, etc. and the truth about who is behind this.”
Get it.
I support full legalization, but know of nobody who says pot is benign. It’s not.
And in the interest of clarity...it’s not a narcotic.
What do you mean....? LOL!! Not trying to have a conversation.... just reporting. To all those who are still concious, aren’t “stoned and missing it” in real time. As intended by our dhimmi demo lib friends. And their pals in the Tort Bar. Think of the possibilities.... LOL!!

Smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em!..................
Prior discussion.. The “rant” as such is about THC, and the supposed “clinical” medical benefit of an illegal narcotic classified by the DEA as a Class I narcotic.
Perhaps too much clinical terms, my apology. THC and legalized marijuana is not benign. And to have the major Tobacco people in the US and internationally pushing this for their own market dominance— should make conservatives (not libertarians, obviously, but perhaps some of them with children) take notice. But not the two morons from NC, so named.
Am a champion of CBD cultivars that the Israelis have patented that produce cannabis with 99% CBD oil for pain relief vaping. And, not a champion for long term stoner industry THC promoters. That’s all.
Happen to know the FL side of this “argument” on “legalization” and it is hilarious if it wasn’t so damaging to youth, beyond teenage alcoholics or Trayvon Martins (who get high on Robitussin and Skittles). Social conscience conservative, here— highly annoying to formerly or currently stoner libertarian. My apologies for the “rant”. Don’t have a lot of time for FR or farce buch for that matter.
