Vimeo removes Infowars content

Vimeo has pulled Infowars content from its site for violating the platform’s standards.

A spokesperson for the video hosting service told Business Insider on Sunday that the Infowars videos "violated our Terms of Service prohibitions on discriminatory and hateful content.”

The videos had been uploaded to the site on Thursday and Friday. The Vimeo spokesperson also told Business Insider that the company had told the account owner of the videos’ removal, and also issued a refund because "we do not want to profit from content of this nature in any way."

The site reported that Infowars had less than a dozen videos on the platform as of Wednesday, but that more than 50 videos were posted to the site on the following days.

Vimeo reportedly determined that the content violated the company’s trust and safety standards within 48 hours of the videos being posted.

Business Insider reported that Vimeo CEO Anjali Sud will announce the removal of the Infowars content during a town hall meeting on Monday.

Vimeo is the latest platform to pull content posted by Infowars or its founder Alex Jones. Facebook, YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts have all recently banned or removed content from the site or its controversial conspiracy theorist founder.

Twitter has said that Infowars and Jones will be permitted to stay on the site because they haven’t violated its policies.

A Twitter spokesperson said Friday the decision to allow them to remain on the site will stay in place, despite a CNN report revealing that Jones had repeatedly violated its policies.

Jones has faced criticism for spreading conspiracy theories, and was sued by the parents of two children killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting for allegedly claiming the shooting was a hoax. Jones has denied making the statements.

Can you show, from the Constitution, that the only tyranny we need to be concerned about is the one from government and not individuals?

My understanding of their intent was potentially anybody who is able to put themselves into position to wield power over other people.

[ What’s to stop the app sites from blocking Jones’ app? ]

That’s next.

Gab.AI was started as a “Fine we’ll start our own thing” and Microsoft is threatening to PULL THEIR SERVICES FROM THEM.

Also GAB.AI had a crapton of issues just GETTING A DNS address....

Any Republican/Conservative who says “Well start your own platform” doesn’t realize that some of those who have/are trying to do so also face hurdles.

It is like trying to build a house next to town and the city won’t provide electricity/sewer/water services, even though you are within the city limits because you complained at a city council meeting. Then you go to get a well permit and they deny that to you. The guy at the hardware store won’t sell you solar panels because his wife is the sister of the mayors wife. The guy with the backhoe won’t dig your damned leech field either because his cousin is the mayor.

That is pretty much “de-platforming”

[ Jones has faced criticism for spreading conspiracy theories ]

I had to laugh at this as if that FACT ALONE is a great reason to kick him off the air.

The only people afraid of Conspiracy Theories are those people who are involved in actual conspiracies and the theorist has gotten too close.

The Forefathers would have been concerned about this development, in principle, if they had known about the power of data.

It’s not just Facebook or Google or Twitter. It is their ability to cut you off from general commerce.

No.

Well, that’s not what they wrote.

Do you think they were illiterate or maybe they saw things differently than you?

“FR is open to conservatives and conservative activists. And even narrower than that, FR is open to pro-God (our one true Judeo-Christian God), pro-life, pro-family, pro-America, pro-constitution, pro-gun, pro-borders, constitutionally limited-government conservative patriots. Marxists, fascists, antifascists (antifa who, in fact, are actually fascists), communists, totalitarians, anarchists, socialists, national socialists, democrat socialists, liberals, progressives, mass murderers, baby murderers, abortionists, homosexualists, globalists, glowbull warming hoaxers, open-borders pushers, amnesty pimps, God-haters, Jew-haters, anti-Semites, big government pushers, gun grabbers, border jumpers, criminals, racists, revolutionists, callers for violence, democrats, rinos, establishment GOPers (but I repeat myself) are not welcome on FR.”

Is there a Christian Worldview-type Social Media outlet ?

If there were such an outlet, the homo Nazis would have filed lawsuit after lawsuit in federal courts until the outlet was forced to host homo oriented channels.

"Gab.AI was started as a “Fine we’ll start our own thing” and Microsoft is threatening to PULL THEIR SERVICES FROM THEM."

Open source, free, unencumbered software wall-to-wall is the only way to go if you want to truly own your code.

Berkeley Software Distribution licenses or one of the GNU General Public Licenses. There are others, but it's hard to get any more permissive than BSD's.

The UniParty hate conservatives, and rejoice to see any opposition to them silenced.

The DemoKKKrats openly celebrate; the RINOpublicans secretly celebrate.

They do not have the right to selectively enforce their posted terms of service in a deceitful manner. That is consumer fraud.

They do not have the right to engage in business tactics that damage product brand and lower market value. That is fiscal malfeasance.

These are PUBLICLY-traded corporations, not private companies. Why do you suppose it is called Initial PUBLIC Offering?

They do not “determine their boundaries” in an open, objective, and consistent manner. They lie.

A radio station that airs certain paid shows according to the owner’s choice is not at all the same thing as a social media site that exists to solicit and obtain as many users as it can.

A business that advertises it wants any and all customers, and will treat them all equally, then actually refuses to sell to some after they come in and join, and even ejects some for not pleasing the proprietor’s subjective preferences.

Selective and deceptive enforcement of terms of service is fraud. Using capricious business tactics that damage the brand and lower the value is malfeasance.

A radio station is by definition not open to all comers to speak on air. A social media site is by definition open to the public at large.

And you think that your fake name makes you immune?

My understanding is that, unless you are using Linux, you are being traced from the moment your computer is on to the time it is off. All your activities are being logged. All the big tech companies are tracing everything everything you.do and waiting for you to make that inevitable mistake that tells them everything about you.

You can do something about it. Download the Inforwars app. I don’t normally load apps on my phone but it was a way to show support.

It is a clean app. Works well. Did not mess up my phone.

Bonus is I get to watch Paul Joseph Watson. I’m not an Alex Jones fan. Too much for me. But I Watson so that was a bonus with my show of support.

The Casuist Conservatives and Libertine Libertarians think it is wonderful when the (Not) Free Market metaphorically kills them instead of the Federal Government. (Capitalists love to be hung by the ropes that they themselves have manufactured!)

Of course, they ignore that we do not have anything close to a Free Market. We have a regulatory state that overwhelmingly favors corporations like Facebook that can bribe legislators to rig the market to favor them.

Zuckerberg being “grilled” by the Senate while Facebook was making unprecedented donations to the very elected representatives who were doing the “grilling” is just the latest travesty of a Not-Free Market at work.

Have you ever used it to check FreeRepublic or some other site?

If so, they know who you are and everything you’re about.

I’m libertarian-conservative, but I understand there are limits in allowing people unfettered freedom, because some people will use that freedom to rule.

They operate on the internet, and are subject to its rules.

The point is, the internet doesn't have rules.

F-Book, YouTube, and Twitter may have rules, but the internet does not.

Internet Service Providers are common carriers and must carry all comers. Not so for FB/YT/TW. And, I might add, FR. (Anyone care to enunciate a rule that applies to FB/YT/TW but exempts FR?)

At this point, it is a trap to introduce gubmint regulation to protect the likes of Alex Jones. Once you let the camel's nose under the tent, you are only an election away from losing freedom!

“Coordinated. Not a damn thing will be done about it.”

The rabid lefties in control of these tech giants are the same rabid lefties in control of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, NYTs,etc. They are the same rabid lefties in control of our 4 trillion dollar corrupt stasi state...

The idea that they’re coordinating their efforts to stifle speech, access, etc. should concern every sober and rational person.
