The Florida man who invoked the "stand your ground" self-defense after shooting a black man in a dispute over a parking space was charged Monday with manslaughter, officials said.
Michael Drejka, 47, was arrested Monday morning in the fatal shooting in July of Markeis McGlockton in Clearwater, Florida.

This is actually on the police, yet again.
If you read the article that I posted about his history of confrontations and road rage incidents, there was at least two times where the police could have yanked his concealed carry permit.
He lied his way out of them. I think he might also present the demeanor of a "sad sack" to the outside world, who is actually much more dangerous than he looks.

Yep. One of the reasons the cops were resisting having cameras all the time. Slow it down frame by frame (what is that 0.1 seconds or less?). “Now the jury will clearly see that in frame 1059, the deceased is tilting his back backwards, and in frame 1061 is foot is moving backwards. Having taken two steps back and frame 1102(!!) only then is the gun fired.”
That said - I look at the video and don’t see a justified shoot (at least in Washington state). Just pointing the gun at the guy got him to back off. But the “reasonable doubt” would still be there - what was going through the mind of the shooter. (I was seeing double after getting slammed to the ground, it looked like he was reaching for a gun, it all happened so fast, etc.) Although I was surprised at how long the shooter took to line the guy up in his sights and then fire. Most shooting videos it happens so quickly I can’t tell what is going on until the fourth time watching it in slo-mo.
There were plenty of witnesses around, and most of them looked over there and knew something was going on, so it will be interesting to hear what they heard. (Or think that they heard!)
The guy in the past has threatened to shoot people before during a verbal argument. If he yelled that at the woman in the car, the guy will have a harder time in his defense - at least in Washington state where I live.
Even though the man pushed to the ground and possibly injured , the actor in this incident did not follow up to further cause any harm to the victim.. Iam all for carrying for self preservation, but this wasn’t a “good” shoot.
One thin we do not have is any audio of what, if anything was said by anyone during the event. That may be crucial to the case.
Letting a jury decide is a cop out ( pardon the pun) of the SD or PD or SP or DA- either the evidence points one way or the other. If the evidence, at second and third look after the public leftist hue and cry leans towards a crime, then that needs to be broadcast loudly and widely by the defense- this is now a political prosecution, not a legal one. Unless there is new or previously unreleased evidence.
Yeah I know there are some that will point out that there is a .000001% chance the shooter could have got his head busted open, but BAD SHOOT.

Drejka is going down. The prosecutor was quietly collecting his nasty little history of "confrontations" - and there will be more people coming forward...

This looked like he provoked a confrontation, in order to shoot someone.
The guy was a total jerk for shoving him on the ground- but shooting him was murder.
If he had shot him AS HE APPROACHED it would be different. But you can’t shoot someone who is retreating.
Especially not one of the protected classes.
If you are sitting inside your car with closed and locked windows and doors you apparently CAN shoot someone coming out of his car to talk to you after you cause an accident. Especially if you are of the right protected class.

Wow. Aren't allegations that are not about this incident excluded from courtroom testimony? Is this is a fact-finding mission about a specific event or a popularity contest after the fact? (I realize I am asking a foolish question.)
And would this mean the Darwin Award winner's violent criminal record--as I recall, he had one--would be detailed for the jury as well?
I wasn't there, okay? But regardless of this incident, since the St. Trayvon case, there seems to be a new criminal offense on the books in many states today: Surviving While White.
He is a nasty piece of work. Lies to the cops after multiple incidents where people report him for "brandishing" on the road. Causes an accident after he road-rages on a woman with two children in her car.
This Drejka guy is a menace to society.
I don't like the idea that I might be in some "invisible space" that's "owned" by a whackjob who's carrying concealed.
I don't have a problem with that. Markeis McGlockton DID have a "history of violence".
If I was a juror, I'd like to know that, also, in addition to the loose cannon's history.
