THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HARRY WARREN
SO THIS IS VENICE
In 1924, Harry teamed with Edgar Leslie once again and also with Grant Clark for another hit. He stole the melody from an Italian folk tune, The Carnival of Venice, and with an able assist from Paul Whiteman, the man who made a lady out of jazz, created a great two-step number. Note the tubas supporting the bass line.
