Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis did an interview with Fox News on Wednesday where he used a…um, questionable choice of words when talking about his Democratic opponent, Andrew Gillum.
As DeSantis spoke to Sandra Smith about how he secured the Republican Party nomination last night, he was asked how he plans to beat Gillum now that they’re about to go head-to-head. Since the Tallahassee mayor is campaigning on progressive policies with support from Bernie Sanders, DeSantis acknowledged Gillam as an “articulate spokesman for those far left views” who moved forward with more charisma than other candidates in the democratic primaries.

That’s almost as racist as Perot’s “you people”. Oh, the horror.
Haven’t watched the news yet today, but I’m sure there are already calls for him to drop out of the race. If you’re a white Republican, and make a mistake (or what is perceived as a mistake), no amount of apology will be considered sufficient. You must pay for it with your career.

As Dennis Prager has noted many times, the greatest fear in America today is fear of the Left. It’s a fear that’s greater than any hysteria the Left can drum up.

Apparently to the left monkeys are equated to blacks because of the obvious resemblance that they perceive.
The problem is that suburban housewives—Floridian ones in this case—vote, and this kind of thing has the potential to turn off many of them, and others in the middle.
Whatever was in DeSantis’ heart and mind when he said it, it was a mistake. Fires up and hands an issue to the other side.
