Sweden is getting nervous and garrisoning Gotland

If there is another war, it is not going to be a repeat of WWII. There won’t be any more tank battles on land, etc. The next war, if it comes, will be drones followed by nukes, if any nuclear power feels their defeat is imminent.

This idea of a war with Russia is absurd.

I spent quite a lot of time on Gotland in the summers of 1989-1991 carrying out a geology research project on the Hemse Biostromes near Herrvik on the east side of the island.

The northern part of Gotland, Faro, was a military base at the time and off-limits to foreigners. I remember seeing the amazing looking Saab Viggens flying overhead quite often and once a Chinook from the base flew over a fishing boat and lowered a basket which the crew loaded with fish.

I also got challenged at gunpoint by a Swedish soldier as I was mapping a section of the cliffs as part of my work: I didn't realise there was a camouflaged lookout on the cliff top, there as part of a training exercise :-)

...in May-June 2018, the MSB (Ministry for Society Protection and Preparedness) in Sweden would send out a brochure titled “If Crisis or War Comes” to all of Sweden’s 4.7 million homes. The last time this sort of brochure was printed and distributed was during World War II, in 1943.

Gosh, it's weird that the hard lefties in Europe have been so fiercely in favor of flooding the various countries of Europe with muzzie jihadists. It's almost as if they want their nations to be occupied by the forces of the former (ahem) Soviet Union. Thanks NRx.
