I WAS the parent in those years and didn’t allow frequent partying or ANY pot smoking.
I’m not naïve enough to believe that they behaved themselves 100% of the time.

No, of course kids don’t behave 100% - they do rebel. But you knew when your kid was in the house and not running around at 2am.
When I tried smoking, my mom went through my handbag looking for evidence - she found a few loose strands of tobacco. She was a holy terror, really. For some reason, in my day, boys had more freedom than girls which is odd because boys can get girls pregnant!
