President Trump on Monday ordered the declassification of several key documents related to the FBI's probe of Russian actions during the 2016 presidential election, including 21 pages of an application for a renewed surveillance warrant against former campaign aide Carter Page, and text messages from disgraced FBI figures Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump had ordered the documents released "[a]t the request of a number of committees of Congress, and for reasons of transparency."
The documents to be declassified also include 12 FBI reports on interviews with Justice Department official Bruce Ohr and all FBI reports of interviews prepared in connection with all other applications to surveil Carter Page.
Trump also ordered the Justice Department to release text messages from a number of the key players in the Russia investigation "without redaction" -- including Ohr, Strzok, Lisa Page, former FBI Director James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
It was not immediately clear when or how the documents would be released. Congressional sources told Fox News that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., does not know how soon he will get the documents, but said Trump's order covers "pretty much everything that he wanted ... and the text messages are a bonus."
According to the sources, Nunes added: "Wow! This is a direct order."

Make no mistake about it. Why else would so many republicans in power be so opposed to a President of their own party. Republicans put distance between them & president, reluctantly supported very few proposals, and very publicly denounced this President. Ryan should be tarred and feathered. He’d be a top of my list, Sessions would be next!

They have been stone walling formal production of documents because they want to non turn over any documents until they know what Trump has so they don't get caught hiding documents
That's the reason Mueller has quit stalling on Gen Flynn's is being sentenced. Trump has run the clock out on Mueller's obstruction of production of very damaging documents on the Flynn set and prosecutorial misconduct on the part of his team in the Flynn investigation.
The gig is up and Team Mueller's only option at this point is to get a conviction record and hope the facts don't catch up until after the election

Unlike normal English language, "target" here is a term of art which means that the prosecutor has enough evidence to present to a Grand Jury, and that you will almost certainly be indicted. When you become a target, the prosecutor has to notify you, usually by sending a "target letter".
What Trump is, and has been, is the "subject" of the investigation.
Now, I have been the subject of a Federal Grand Jury investigation (a very undesirable thing), but, when you are a subject, the most important thing is to avoid becoming a target.
The fastest way to turn from a subject into a target is to talk to the prosecutor without immunity.
What I still don't get about this is, what's the crime that Trump is the subject of an investigation for?
