I just want to thank you for spelling “minuscule” correctly. Thank you.
It’s from MEXICO!!
If you havent tried it dont knock it. But thats ok more for me! Yummmm
Cheese? Yuck! Can’t stand the taste or consistency of any and all cheese.
Cook my burgers on a charcoal grill with hickory chips, then mustard, pickle and red onion on a regular bun.
Ketchup or catsup on any burgers or steak I cook is strictly taboo!
OK, great. The sinus infection comes from illegals crossing the border?
You can have my share.
I’m the same way. I even dip my fries in BBQ sauce. My only other disagreement is that I love Blue Cheese on a burger. Sometimes, I’ll all an onion slice to the top of the burger while still on the grill, then spoon some Blue Cheese on top.
My trick, I slightly melt the Blue Cheese first (10-15 sec in microwave) the spread it. Otherwise the crumbles fall off the burger into the flame.
I prefer good crusty buns over cheap hamburger buns.
Hey hey, ho ho, a good American style burger is the way to go!
Most hotdogs are just reshaped baloney meat which is just processed floor droppings. Hebrew National on the other hand have flavor and good ingredients.
Enjoyable article!
Personally, I see it as an attempt to “de-Amercanize not only cuisine, but our American Culture. Consider:
Nachos replacing potato chips
Soy patties replacing hamburgers
Pita Bread replacing deli rolls
Yoga replacing stretching exercises
Tacos replacing hot dogs
Salsa replacing onion dip
Hummus replacing peanut butter
Gelato replacing ice cream
Meusli replacing Cheerios
Schiracha replacing Ketchup
Feta replacing Cottage Cheese
and so on. Not that I don’t like most of those things, and variety is the spice of life, but has anyone else noticed this?
Ever try your hamburger on good, crusty French bread? Perfection! Grocery store buns have become like marshmallows, gooey soft and tasteless.Sometimes toasting helps them a little.
If you like food on the spicy side, pepper jack cheese gives burgers a nice, simple kick. Not too hot.
If you’re not a cheese fan, chopped pepperoncini can liven up the burger.
Yep. Done that too.
We’ve got a bunch of people coming over for a cook-out next weekend. I need to talk to my wife about the buns she buys.
A friend of mine puts cheese on bell pepper wedges and throws them on the grill. When the cheese melts they’re ready. Pretty good appetizer while waiting for the meat to cook.
LOL! Enjoyed your comments.
Instead of hand patting a burger I now pinch out about 1/3 lb from the meat package, form it into t a loose ball, set it on t piece of wax paper then cover it the same and mash it down with a small cast iron pan.
The meat stays moister while cooking and has a better texture to bite into than a hand packed burger.
An affluent population gets bored with the same-old same-old.
In the 1920s, Americans were asking, "What's pizza? What is this thing called psghetti? Am I saying it right, psghetti?"
Now pizza and spaghetti are as American as those German ground beef patties and link-sausages that we eat in buns.
The meat stays moister while cooking and has a better texture to bite into than a hand packed burger.
Yes!....been doing that for years, except I use a small wooden bread board to flatten them when cooking for myself... For picnic grilling I set out 4 balls at a time and use a bigger bread board...salt, pepper, and spice according to taste. So easy.
I get your point but there seems to be a concerted effort to replace American traditions with other traditions. Look at your calendar...Muslim holidays are now prominently displayed along with National Holidays.
Did we even know what “Eid al Ftr” was till a few years ago?
