Well, after Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) requested a delay in the floor vote, the whole nomination process was thrown into chaos again. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted this afternoon to send the Kavanaugh nomination to the Senate floor on a party-line vote. There’s still a lot of drama engulfing the Hill. Now, Sen. John Cornyn says there will be a week long FBI investigation into the allegations of sexual misconduct against Judge Kavanaugh.

The FBI doesn't prosecute. All they do is ask questions, take statements and report what they are told. They don't provide solutions. The FBI investigation is a McGuffin. It is a plot device, that by itself is meaningless, whose only purpose is to move Feinstein's narrative along to a pre-determined conclusion. Once the "report" hit's the committee's desk, DiFi will seize on some part of it (it doesn't really matter what) and every democrat in the country will parrot that point claiming that it is the vital piece of evidence that proves their point.

It wasn’t the whole fbi, or even 1%. It was headquarters and the Southern District of NY. They are not completely neutered, but it doesn’t matter for this case. It will be handled by field offices and agents, and done in a couple days.
And it’s Wray, not Rosenstein. Rosy won’t touch it, because he’ll get walked out the door if he comes near it. He knows it. Trump knows it.
