WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWS CENTER Maine) — Senator Susan Collins told reporters Friday that she would vote yes to move the final confirmation vote to the Senate floor Saturday. Collins will announce how she plans to vote on embattled U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh during a 3 p.m. Senate floor Speech.

personally, i think it’s a brilliant speech ... it’s a general defense of Kavanaugh and the whole historic precedence of “advise and consent”; i like the fact that she’s not the least defensive about herself or her vote ...

She’s talking about his legal qualifications which can’t really be questioned and not the smear campaign. That should mean she’s a yes.

Think about that when you get frustrated by his liberal opinions if he makes it on the bench. Trump nominated him and he is qualified, however, he is looking like an O'Conner/Kennedy Justice. Only time will tell, but if going by what he believes, Kavanaugh will just uphold opinions based on activism, not texualism.

There were reports a couple of weeks ago that she was furious with the way the Dems handled this. And you're right - this is not a speech she wrote at the last minute.

It is possible that she really was Lucy holding the football - except the Dems were Charlie Brown. And this was a way to get lots of people to tune in and listen to her endorsement of Kavanaugh.

So far she has given a tremendous endorsement of Kavanaugh and his judicial philosophy. Collins has taken the high ground. If it continues in this vein, Collins has presented the best case for Kavanaugh to be a Justice. It is superb. ------

Collins is kicking 100% ass. This is perhaps the best dissertation on Big K’s legal jurisprudence ever. Clearly they share a mind on a ton of stare decisis. More than me! I love Big K, but as a Judge he’s a little process-oriented, a little cautious.
