We had them when I left in 1983, so I think the author is worried for no reason. Also, laser weapons are a lot further along than what they’ll disclose.

I agree on laser weapons being more developed than most people realize. I’m particularly surprised with the re-fire capability. Not quite up to the make-believe level like in Star Wars, but it’s a lot faster than I thought it would be.

And I’m also surprised at how little power is needed. For years I thought they’d have to be land based or ship based. But now we put them on airplanes and trucks.

The nerds in Huntsville, AL are truly remarkable.
