“First Man” Raises Disturbing Reminder of Racial Inequality
Real Clear Life ^ | October 11, 2018 | Thelma Adams

Ryan Gosling grimaces and grinds his teeth and suffers mostly silently as heroic Neil Armstrong in Oscar winner Damien Chazelle’s First Man, out Friday. The title is short for first man on the moon for those who weren’t around in 1969 when the dude took “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Or, well, some of it. Fifty years later America doesn’t do such an out-of-this-world job when it comes to racial inclusivity. First Man is a reminder of such inequality.

Don't forget the CA surfer dudes that helped.

When the surf wasn't up, they'd work at shaping the rigid fiberglass insulation around cryo-tanks for some unit of upper stages.

When the surf was up, they'd cost the contractor big dental bills from employees grinding their teeth.

This is the movie that omits the flag being planted on the moon? Nope. Not seeing it.

I did see the trailer a month or two ago. Told the folks I was with it sure seemed negative considering the historic nature of the mission.

Men (and a few women) like this made it happen. That is the history.

They should have cast Samuel L. Jackson as Werner Von Braun.

I've had it with these MF'ing snakes on this MF'ing rocket!

Find my slide rule. It's the one that says "Bad MF'er".

Honey, where is my super spacesuit?

Ok, but did the 1960’s space programs of Rwanda and the Central African Republic include Whitey?

Of course!!!
Because diversity, skin color, sexual preference and ‘social justice’ have so much to do with space travel, flight (in general), technological innovation and advances in medicine.

There’s a chapter in Ben Rich’s “The Skunk Works” where some Latino political organization was all bent out of shape due to the lack of any ‘Latino’ scientists/engineers associated with Lockheed.

Mr Rich’s answer was straight and simple - ‘Because no Latinos have graduated from engineering school’.
I also refer to jug-ears ordering NASA to be mooselimb friendly.

A movie is now being made about the school marm who died as shuttle passenger.

When is Hollywood going to get around to making a film about astronaut Ron McNair who was on that same shuttle?

Old news. Is Thelma Adams really that pathetically uninformed about NASSA and the Old Negro Space Program:

The first year in Iraq we had carte blanche to get things done and rapidly.
After that the affirmative action hires began showing up. It was generally agreed there was a steady decline in the quality of services rendered to coalition forces after that.

I was in an engineering outfit where these results became painfully obvious.
No sense of urgency, lack of purpose, poor education and resistance to hard work at every turn. They were no more than window dressing and a waste of our money.
