The Elizabeth Warren Fiasco
NYTimes ^ | Ross Douthat

Posted on 10/17/2018 4:15:01 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

A lot of smart people believe that Elizabeth Warren, the senator from Massachusetts, is the front-runner for the Democratic nomination in 2020. A recent New York magazine profile by Jonathan Chait claimed that she’s winning the invisible primary — building campaign networks, rolling out policy proposals, wooing insiders, intimidating rivals.

*snip*

I am not a Democratic insider or a campaign professional, so for all I know Warren may indeed be impressing her intended audience.

*snip*

But running for president in the age of Donald Trump requires, above all, an ability to handle what John Heileman and Mark Halperin once called “the freak show” (back when it was considerably less freaky). It requires a deftness dealing with scandals and gaffes and accidental blunders, an ability to know when you have a wrestling move that justifies getting down in the mud and when you’re better off sitting on a top rail and acting superior to the pigs.

*snip*

[W]hat Warren should have done when the story resurfaced, what she obviously should have done, was to simply express mild regret for letting her enthusiasm for family lore carry her away into identifying as someone who might possibly receive affirmative-action consideration, apologize to Cherokee groups for any offense, and literally never speak of the matter again. And if and when Donald Trump started up his Pocahontas jibes, she should have simply ignored him and talked about the many issues where he’s on the wrong side of public opinion.

...Given the extremism of the Democrats these days, odds are Harris wins the nomination..

Might as well be Angela Davis.

With the spotlight on Harvard for discrimination against Asian student applicants, why isn’t Harvard under an equally intense spotlight for buying into Warren’s fraudulent declaration about being a “woman of color”? Why did they recognize her as a Native American?

It’s good that people know about the miniscule percentage of Indian blood she has.

It’s good that people know an Indian nation has disavowed her.

NOW it needs to be stressed strongly and often that because of her lies an actual minority person was cheated out of jobs, status, etc., because she stole that.

Maybe a group of qualified blacks, Indians, Hispanics, et al., should file a class action suit against her.

this was her howard dean scream moment.

Eggzactly.

Lizzie's done.

By the time the 2020 campaign starts, Trump will have tarnished the entire Democratic field.

I have no idea, and little interest. (in the Dem candidate, that is...)

And, truth, be told, I despise the endless campaign cycles. Half of the Dems could be dead — from climate change, LOL — by the time the 2020 election comes along!

—The new info arsing from the DNA test is that it only proves fauxahantas has LATINO heritage, not Cherokee nor ANY North American Indian tribe.-—

I think there’s some confusion with the way all this stuff is being reported.

When they say they looked at Mexican, Peruvian and Colombian DNA as proxies, they’re talking about Native American sequences from South America.

“Latinos” often have a combination of Spanish and South American Native heritage. So I’m fine with the idea that native sequences from South America (from Latinos or whatever) are used if North American ones aren’t readily available.

But all of this is a red herring anyway, which detracts from the point that Warren LIED about her ancestry multiple times and allowed her academic institutions to describe her as “Cherokee” or “..of color”.

It really doesn’t matter even if her 1/1024th ancestor WAS a legit Cherokee. The woman is 99.9% WHITE and a total lying PHONY.

Which is the only really important takeaway.

Biden is the clear front runner, if he announces Kamala Harris as an endorser and his VP early its a done deal.

The Obama wannabes - Holder, Booker, and Patrick - will cannibalize each other’s support, and if any political professionals are involved in the decision, they will recognize that we will not elect another Obama for 100 years.

After Biden, Warren is #2, Sanders is #3. I don’t know who’s after that.

"The author repeats the lie the test proved “some” Native American ancestry."

After blurting out that I couldn't possibly read an article that started out so stupidly, I scanned it pretty thoroughly, anyway. Glad you pointed this out -- had similar thoughts, myself...

Liberalism is a religion, detached from morality and reality. Otherwise, how could Massachusetts put up with Warren and Kennedy? It is more important for a candidate to support the religion than to be truthful or moral.

Latino means a mix of Spanish - European - and Aztec. I believe the samples used attempt to exclude Spanish. My guess, however, is that you are correct and the genetics include Spanish.
