What everybody is missing is that these countries would be better off if they didn’t have people who want a better life leaving. Globally, countries having stable populations for whom they can provide a good life should be the goal. We just focus on the criminal element and it’s impact on us.

Very good and often neglected point.

These countries have a very small number of intelligent and adequately trained and educated people and that means there are simply not enough high functioning and competent people to keep their countries running properly

This is especially true in Africa.

In the 1960s and 70s enormous effort was made to educate and train native Africans to form a nucleus of a technical and managerial talent to replace the exiting colonial being forced to leave after the ex colonial countries were given independence

This group of people was almost totally wiped out by African AIDS epidemic and Africa has never recovered
