Politico: Say, Republicans Might Hold Onto The House After All
Hot Air ^ | 19 Oct 2018 | Ed Morrissey

Could Republicans do the unthinkable on November 6th and keep a majority in the House? Politico’s Rachel Bade calls it “unlikely,” but not impossible. Bade hears from Republicans and “even a few Democrats” that the political winds have shifted enough this month that it might result in a slight GOP majority once all the votes have been counted.

Just about every poll predicts it won’t happen: Suburban voters are too fed up with Donald Trump, and Democrats too awash in cash, for Nancy Pelosi’s party not to seize the House on Nov. 6.

And yet House Republicans — and privately, even a few Democrats — say the GOP could still hang on, if only by a few seats. The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has given GOP voters a badly needed enthusiasm boost, they argue, and several races seen as unwinnable just weeks ago are suddenly back within reach for Republicans.

Democrats are also taking money from the race to unseat GOP Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, who, Republicans say, has a healthy lead. That came just days after Democrats pulled out of Hispanic-populated districts represented by Rep. David Valadao in central California and Rep. Will Hurd along the Texas border. And they’ve withdrawn $800,000 in planned ads from Rep. Vern Buchanan’s Florida district, where the Democratic challenger, David Shapiro, trails the incumbent.

The wild card in this is the Kavanaugh Effect. How many Republican voters who were complacent without Donald Trump on the ballot have now been galvanized by that debacle? How many has Trump himself galvanized in his barnstorming over the last few weeks? The polling mainly missed thesurge of marginally attached voters that turned up in 2016, and may be missing it again now.

Add that to the massive fundraising and organizing advantage the RNC has over the DNC, and we could be in for a surprise on Election Night.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If the GOP holds the house there would be mass suicides by snowflake libs around the country...

I’d love to see us pick up a few seats, just enough to make the libs cry. But I’ll settle for holding on; party in power typically does lose a few in mid-terms.

“Do the unthinkable”

Ok, wtf... Why is the GOP holding the house “unthinkable”?

The DNC since the last election has acted like rabid cats. Who the hell would vote for them??

ANy chance of holding the house died with their action around Kavanaugh...

Pretty soon the Commie left is going to announce that their bogus polls were indeed BOGUS from the start. There might have been a blue wave several months ago, that could have indeed been true, but after the commie left showed their true colors during the Kavanaugh hearing, MANY people had enough, even many sane Democrats who have decided to walkaway

I heard Pat Buchannan say on Laura Ingraham, this morning, that he thought the Republicans would lose the House.

A short time later, Rush said that they'd win.

So....

“JobsNotMobs”

Joe Biden says those four little words are not enough to sway voters, and I think he could be on to something.

Joe nailed it when obamacare was passed, "Big flunking deal".

No, but there would be a purge of the more violent thugs running the democrat party - and that would be good for the country. AND strangely - good for the democrat party.

Ok, wtf... Why is the GOP holding the house “unthinkable”?

1. Demographics is destiny. The country is getting less white. Therefore, socialism must win.

2. Election cycles are destiny. This is the midterm election for a first-term president, so socialism must win.

3. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. So socialism must win.

4. Vote fraud. They fell asleep at the wheel in 2016, believing their own propaganda, and they won't make that mistake twice in a row. They are convinced real Americans will need a much larger turnout to overcome their margin of fraud this time around.

The number of people who actually approve of an oppressive totalitarian-socialist state is irrelevant, as is the number of people who approve of the far left's current terrorist tactics (using the word "terrorist" accurately to describe those who attempt to accomplish political aims through violence and intimidation). The left doesn't think what normal people actually want matters anywhere else. Why would they care when it comes to election day?

Don Bacon? He’s doing a really good job. Maybe they think they can cheat easier here. We’ve gotten so many illegals it’s unbelievable. What’s really weird is they seem to have a lot on money for designer clothes shoes...for themselves and all they’re kids. .They shop at VonMaur, Dillard’s.....most expensive stores....i bet soros or someone is paying them to come...more than moving money.
