WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is considering narrowly defining gender as a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth, the most drastic move yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law.
A series of decisions by the Obama administration loosened the legal concept of gender in federal programs, including in education and health care, recognizing gender largely as an individual’s choice and not determined by the sex assigned at birth. The policy prompted fights over bathrooms, dormitories, single-sex programs and other arenas where gender was once seen as a simple concept. Conservatives, especially evangelical Christians, were incensed.
Now the Department of Health and Human Services is spearheading an effort to establish a legal definition of sex under Title IX, the federal civil rights law that bans gender discrimination in education programs that receive government financial assistance, according to a memo obtained by The New York Times.
“Sex means a person’s status as male or female based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth,” the department proposed in the memo, which was drafted and has been circulating since last spring. “The sex listed on a person’s birth certificate, as originally issued, shall constitute definitive proof of a person’s sex unless rebutted by reliable genetic evidence.”

You mean they want to use “science” to define sexuality?
This only works if there are two categories:
1. Legal definition of gender determined by biology in order to not shut down all women’s sports, or confound all scientific research. You can’t start a study using the scientific method with actual lies.
2. The social construct of “transgender,” or a new word for it, meaning that it stays socially acceptable for people with gender dysphoria to live lives of contentment, dressing and acting how they feel. No, they can’t compete as a woman if they are XY. But they can live how they wish and dress and act how they wish, and the rest of us should accept them with love.
Gender dysphoria is such a difficult condition that many with it wish to die and too many commit suicide. It is not their fault they are like this. We need more compassion, but we need to stick to defining gender properly by way of fact and science.
Waiting for an Obama-appointed federal judge to issue a nationwide injunction blocking this in 3 … 2 … 1 …

In other words, outwardly the person is a totally normal female, often beautiful, but sterile, with XY DNA. Androgens from XY DNA cause the fetus to develop as a boy, but the insensitivity syndrome renders them ineffective. Hence the fetus develops as a girl. To classify such a person as male would be ludicrous.

At the risk of getting in the middle of something unpleasant. Someone is going to have to explain to me what the conflict on this thread is about. It is a valid topic for discussion. I personally never tire of lefty news organizations being referred to as “New York Slimes, Washington Compost, SeeBS” etc... Attacking someone over this, criticizing their pseudonym, the amount of time they have been here, trying to get them in trouble with the mods over basically nothing appears very petty to me.
It is. Self appointed busybodies are really annoying. They are the equivalant of FRs self appointed , self righteous “Do Gooders” and usually speak for noone.
