While waiting in line at funeral service I looked in door of where the music was being played. There were stickers for BMI and ASCAP indicating that every time they played music that wasn’t in the public domain, someone got a check.

People DON’T get checks from ASCAP and BMI over that, families bring music from home and say “play this” at a loved one’s funeral. The songs are not noted any more than clubs report which DJs played what songs.

Paying the ASCAP and BMI shakedown protection fees keeps ASCAP and BMI from taking you to court over playing music without giving them money.

Most artists don’t see sh!t.
