What I saw — what I believe I say — was that he did put his hand on her. That’s assault, or battery, legally. (I always get those two confused.)

Assault if the threat of confrontation; battery is actual touching. Splitting hairs. Picking nits. Back in the 50s & 60s, after assault and/or battery, bruising and black eyes were the standard. We’ve all become whiny PC libs.
