Much perplexity. Nationalism is the OPPOSITE of patriotism?

Was bedeutet das? (Translated from the German “What does that mean?)

“Nationalist” has been conflated with “Nationalist Socialism”, which has been known by its contraction, “Nazi”. But the harmful part of the phrase is not nationalist, but socialism, a school of philosophy which has enjoyed wide acceptance from many, but always vastly overpromises, and in every instance underdelivers.

Another creeping change to the definitions of words we all think we know the meaning of, but are being slowly and subtly being changed to meant their total opposite.

Democracy? From voice of the people, to mob rule. Gay? From lighthearted and carefree to grim determination to subvert and deny life in all its forms. Gun safety? From an effort to make all people aware of the need to learn and understand firearms and projectile weaponry in general, to the total prohibition and outlawing of such means of personal defense. Common sense? From the generally widely accepted definition of a code of conduct that recognizes simple logic and reasoning to a term for enforcing conformity on all free-thinking people, suppressing individual thought and demanding blind submission to groupthink.

There are more, but you get the drift of what I am talking about.

I did a screen capture of several definitions of patriotism and nationalism. In none of them was there any reference to morality. Nationalism is the opposite of globalism.
