Diverse: 1 : differing from one another : unlike people with diverse interests. 2 : composed of distinct or unlike elements or qualities.
Nature is diverse, but eagles and skunks do not cohabitate.
Its positive connotation (thus basis of support) is derived from bio-diversity, which means there may be thousands/millions of diverse life forms occupying a small parcel of territory. Even as small as a square foot of land, each carving out its unique place in a world of sustenance and reproduction, and contributing to the overall balance that benefits other species.
But do competing groups of the same species (or even different species) "co-exist"? LOL Ant family vs ant, ants vs aphids, lion pride vs lion, lion vs hyena, need I go on?
So, the issue is one purposely promoted for the exact opposite reason it is rationalized; the classic Trojan horse.
