It turns out that this saying is just a myth:
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.”
There will be some late credit card payments though.
What?
As if the USPS workers care.
WTF? Ridiculous!
Every now and then I run into one who does.

Somehow, administrative indolence and ensuing mission failure is appropriate for the guy who killed the Reagan revolution.
Newman!
I don’t remember them doing this for any other president who died. I guess any excuse for a holiday, right USPS?
That’s all right - I get my red plum coupons tomorrow, and our weekly fish wrapper comes on Thursday. They could trim the Post Office down to three days a week and it would be fine.
Just think what is going to close when Obama bites the dust! A week with no mail delivery?????
I hope they’re not getting paid.
There's a silver lining. The McCain hate-fest now fades from memory. If it's remembered at all, it will be a memory of how hateful and petty McCain and his family were.
The order would have had to come directly from Pres. Trump.
Why do I think the postal workers will come out ahead on this?
Overtime pay later to make up for a lost day?
I remember they did it for Nixon, and probably for Reagan and Ford too.
Another excuse for a day off. Did you all know that the price of a stamp is going from 50 cents to 55 cents on January 28. I think that is the date the postmaster gave me the other day.
I hope water and electricity will be available still.
