Former Attorney General and Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions hinted to Politico that he is done with politics after his ouster from the Department of Justice despite rumors he was considering running for his old Senate seat in 2020.
"I've been clearing my brain. I think that's a fair statement, told Politico Wednesday. Ill go to Alabama, do some things and then that will clarify things a little more before I worry about making a statement.
No. I mean, no, he added when asked if he misses the Senate. I could go back and spend time in the woods. Ive got 10 grandchildren, oldest is 11.
Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.), who won an upset special election in 2017 and will be running for a full term in 2020, is widely considered to be the most vulnerable incumbent in the next election cycle. Sessions, who remains popular in the state, was floated by some as a potential Republican candidate.
But Sessions endured withering criticism from President Trump for his recusal from the DOJs investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. His actions raised concerns that he could face a primary challenge from a Republican more personally aligned with the White House. He did not face a general election challenge in 2014.
The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didnt tell me he was going to recuse himself...I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined...and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion! Trump tweeted in June.
Sessions has also reportedly told colleagues that returning to the Senate would be a demotion after serving in Trumps cabinet, according to Politico.
Flipping Jones seat will be crucial for Republicans in 2020, as GOP incumbents in states like Alaska, Maine, Colorado and North Carolina will likely face competitive opponents. Republicans will have a 53-47 majority to defend in the next Senate session.
The pictures or the video must be really good quality.
Lucky guy, with young grandchildren——mine are grown and getting on with their lives,as it should be,but I see MUCH less of them.
.
Now that the Dems have taken the House and Mueller's witch-hunt is moving to a climax, perhaps Sessions will see clearly the demons he turned loose.
He answered that question a long time ago, under oath, at his confirmation hearing, in January, 2017.
Just go away azzwipe.
Good.
Mo Brooks bump.
His nickname needed a little font adjustment for the sake of accuracy.
translated: I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.
... Trust the Unplan.
Regardless, he is an Institutionalist and Elitist, an S.E.S. member since 1988, who absolutely believes he and his colleagues may not be held to the same legal standard as us commoners.
He didn’t do anything as AG so staying in the woods is where he’s been the last two years.
A retroactive prayer that the Confederacy didn’t have his ancestors in command positions, So many lives would have been needlessly lost.
Is this The Plan?
I can’t tell anymore!
I know FReepers have taken sides on Sessions. For Americas sake, I hope he wasnt just a putz.
Well, one thing we can do to determine Mr. Sessions status as a putz is to look at his list of accomplishments.
Okay, I am going to start making the list.
1.
I admit, I’m at a loss. Stuck. Nothing coming to mind.
Oh wait, I got one.
1. Special Counsel Bob Mueller now exists.
I am now going to conclude that Jefferson Beauregard Sessions is a Class A putz.
I respect him for this. How many of these guys retire and stay in DC as lobbyist and never move back home.
That’s good. He couldn’t get elected dog catcher.
I've always heard he had a...um...relationship way back when with a now sitting federal judge. Maybe they showed him the pictures and the FBI file. Certainly wouldn't want the grandchildren to know about that.
Regardless, I find him mediocre and contemptible.
Still believe in elections, huh?
