Lindsey Graham: ‘I Will Do Everything in My Power’ to Confirm William Barr as Attorney General

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who will likely become the next Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, praised President Donald Trump’s attorney general nominee, William Barr, on Friday, saying he is “highly capable, highly respected and will provide new and much-needed leadership for the Department of Justice.”

President Trump confirmed that on Friday, he will nominate as his next attorney general the man who served as attorney general from 1991-1993 during the George H.W. Bush administration.

“He was my first choice since day one,” Trump said on Friday morning.

Sen. Graham, who will likely replace the outgoing Judiciary chairman, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), praised Trump’s nominee.

“President Trump made an outstanding decision in nominating William Barr to serve as the next Attorney General,” Graham said.“Mr. Barr is highly capable, highly respected and will provide new and much-needed leadership for the Department of Justice.”

Of course he will, Barr is a fellow Deep State stooge.

How? What actions taken and words said by Barr indicate he's a deep-state stooge?

So... what speaks to “swamp dweller?”

Criminal Justice

In his adopted home state of Virginia, Barr was appointed during 1994 by then-Governor George Allen to co-chair a commission to reform the criminal justice system and abolish parole in the state.

Immigration

As deputy attorney general, Barr successfully challenged a proposed rule by the Department of Health and Human Services to allow people with HIV/AIDS into the United States.[22] He also advocated the use of Guantanamo Bay to prevent Haitian refugees and HIV infected peoples from claiming asylum in the United States.[23]

Social issues

Barr has stated that he believed the constitution was not originally intended to create a right to abortion; that Roe v. Wade was thus wrongly decided; and that abortion should be a “legitimate issue for state legislators”.

Yep. Graham was pushing for him from the start. Not a good sign at all.

He drinks water too, and I hear he uses toilet paper.

How about we see what this guys does and dispense with the reading chicken bones style of picking nominees?

No one here has any special skill in choosing any of these people if the last guy was any indication.

So rough translation:

I know some no name that no one has heard of doesn’t stand a chance in hell.....but pick someone that doesnt stand a chance in hell, and get him confirmed by some special magic that I cant articulate.

If the American people were that engaged about AG picks then maybe so many of them would not be sitting on their asses on so many other issues. There are Frenchmen in yellow traffic vests that have shown more fight than many people on this site.

“Yeah, you’ve done some good but in this case and a few others, you’re not very convincing, all things considered”

In a few others....

The frigging arrogance some of you project! I wish I could drop the lot of you in 2009 so you can live in a time when things were so much better for you.

He visited DC at some point. These days that’s all some of these people need.

“Deep stater” is just their shorthand to discredit a person sight-unseen like the left does with calling people Nazis.

From Wiki:

2016 election and Trump administration

Barr believed that then Republican candidate Donald J. Trump’s calls for investigating Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate for President, were not inappropriate. He told The New York Times that “there is nothing inherently wrong about a president calling for an investigation. Although an investigation shouldn’t be launched just because a president wants it, the ultimate question is whether the matter warrants investigation.”

In the same Times piece, Barr added that an investigation into the Uranium One controversy was more warranted than looking into whether Trump conspired with Russia: “To the extent it is not pursuing these matters, the department is abdicating its responsibility.”[24] Elsewhere, Barr has commented that “I don’t think all this stuff about throwing [Hillary Clinton] in jail or jumping to the conclusion that she should be prosecuted is appropriate. But I do think that there are things that should be investigated that haven’t been investigated.”[25]

Gregg Jarrett cautioned against Trump choosing Barr to replace Sessions as AG saying he is a Washington insider.

As for William Barr, yes unquestionable integrity, a fine reputation, great experience – he brings gravitas to the job but he is an establishment figure at a time that I think we need a disruptor as Attorney General,” Jarrett said, adding...

“Somebody who would vigorously go after corrupt officials at the FBI and Department of Justice who were abusing their positions of power and attempting to undermine democracy.”

Jarrett then concluded, “I’m afraid Barr is not that guy.”

I appreciate your defense of President Trump. In comparison to the previous dude in the WH and putting the USA first, President Trump truly wares a halo. My distrust for the entire lot in DC is obvious but of them all, I trust that Trump is doing the best he can with what he has to work with, and that isn’t much.

Gregg Jarrett has been by far the best analyst on what’s going on with ‘our’ corrupt DOJ.

We’re well beyond a single AG being able to do anything at a DOJ chocked full of radical leftists(all in open rebellion to the POTUS).

We need a farking special counsel or military tribunals.

“Now I know for certain that Barr is a bad, bad choice.”

So then that means your metric for a good, good choice would be for Lindsey Graham to announce he’d do everything in his power to obstruct the nomination ...
