No sooner had prosecutors in the Southern District of New York filed sentencing recommendations against Michael Cohen than were members of the media calling on Democratic lawmakers to impeach President Trump.
The filings charge that President Trump directed Cohen to make hush payments to Stormy Daniels in a bid to buy her silence about an affair. Many in the media are contending that this would amount to Trump orchestrating a violation of campaign finance laws, and that, as a consequence, he can and should be impeached.
MSNBCs Lawrence ODonnell, Eddie Glaude Jr., and Ali Velshi have all suggested Trump should be impeached. On CNN, Carl Bernstein and Watergate attorney John Dean also called for Trumps impeachment. The Boston Heralds Kimberly Atkins is calling for impeachment, too.
On MSNBC, host Lawrence ODonnell said flat out that Trump must be impeached.
Will Donald Trump be the only president in history accused by federal prosecutors of committing federal crimes who does not then face impeachment for those crimes? ODonnell asked. Congress moved to impeach Richard Nixon when the special prosecutor described his crimes. The House of Representatives moved to impeach and did in fact impeach Bill Clinton when the special prosecutors showed that he committed perjury in that civil case involving Paula Jones.
The host then added: And so if history means anything in the Trump era, if precedent means anything in the Trump era, Donald Trump will be, must be impeached because of the crimes prosecutors say he committed in the Michael Cohen case.
Later, ODonnell invited on the Democratic congressman from Tennessee, Rep. Steven Cohen, to nudge toward filing impeachment charges, saying that failure to do so would mean Trump is the first president accused of federal crimes who does not face impeachment.

Remember when the press reported. Now they demand and not one citizen objects.
If the publishers are directed to publish articles that are for the purpose of overthrowing the elected government then they become part of a seditionist conspiracy. The publishing is not the crime. The participation in the conspiracy is the crime
MSNBC is still sore about losing the 2016 election.
Trump can pay off any slut he wants with his own money, whether he is running for president or not. Its all perfectly legal. It only becomes an issue (and a very weak issue at that) if Trump would not have paid off a skank if he were not running for president. Given that he is a married man with a family, who had every reason to keep any association with women of ill repute from his wife, he'd have had to pay off some slut or the other to keep her from blabbing irrespective of if he were running for president.
They always scream for a R president’s impeachment, but the R’s are way too scared to suggest that BO needed impeaching for actual multiple crimes. The R’s are a spineless bunch of wimps.
I believe this is why Trump has not declassified any of the aforementioned. He's waiting to see what the (D)'s in the House try in the coming months.
If they proceed with impeachment, he'll start declassifying.
Next, the media will demand that THEIR candidate takes the WH, regardless of the votes
A million conservatives went to Washington DC in on Nov 12, 2009.You heard that on TV, right? You didnt?!!! Imagine that!

I think removal from office depends on the base making their voices heard. You’ve got Romney, Collins, Murkowski, Gardner, Sasse, Tillis Burr, Portman, Alexander probably ready to vote against Trump. They’d be more than happy to deal with Pence for two years.
The base needs to step up now and let every GOP senator know that a vote to remove the President from office means their political end and the demise of the republican party. We need to get organized now in every state and put the pressure on these gutless gop wonders in the senate to stand up for the President and the republic.
It would be appropriate that all traitors and seditionists be hanged on the light poles and trees around the WDC Mall (of course, after fair trials ands conviction...).
Just more hemorrhoidal excretions from the anus of America.
I wouldn't be so confident, at least, unless and until there is a tangible shift back towards the Constitution and rule of law across the country as a whole.
Today's America is a far cry different than the days of Johnson...and even Clinton.
1. The media is 90-95% hostile against Trump. Calling him Hitler from day 1.
2. The country is wealthier & more decadent, making a majority of "every day" people far less likely to take to the streets.
3. The country's demographics have changed. Millions of foreign nationals live in this country who demand (& receive) welfare from the taxpayers. These foreign nationals vote in our elections and they don't vote (R).
4. Voter fraud is massive, and only getting worse. FL gov race, DeSantis only beat the socialist by 0.4%? Kemp only beat the socialist Barry Soetero acolyte by 1.4%...in Georgia? Cruz only beats that nutbar Beto by 2.6%...in Texas? Orange County, one of the last conservative enclaves in CA has zero (R) representation out of 6 House seats? One seat was up 14 points at the end of election night, and wound up losing!
5. GM's Anti-Trump CEO decides to cut thousands of jobs in the rust belt and the narrative they're trying to engage in is that it's Trumps fault. That puts states like MI, OH and possibly WI back in the (D) column.
And on and on.
The 2020 elections will be an uphill battle for the (R)'s and for the rule of law generally.
There is no law. There is rather a tyrrany of lawyers.
Even so, the media won't report on it, so the idiots will remain in the dark.
======================================================
It's a great point.
2020 is shaping up to be a watershed election for the preservation of our republic (what may be left of it anyway). I don't think that's hyperbole or an understatement.
Was the Trump election of 2016 just an anomaly, a temporary last ditch push back against the deep state, increasingly emboldened socialists, the foreign nationals here and all the rest of the America haters?
