Commissions and Blue Ribbon Panels et al are just buck passing. They make it look like something is being done, but it’s usually just a time-waster.
I think DJT is waiting until the new House majority is actually seated and begins its promised investigations/demands/caterwauling. Then, the Senate will take up the Administration’s countermove.
The 2020 campaign has already begun.
I agree that it would be a toothless body without power to charge wrongdoing but it would shine light on DOJ/FBI corruption and de-legitimize the SC investigation by revealing REAL wrongdoing by Clinton/Obama and their minions and blunt impeachment talk. Also think that Presidential Commissions are only as good as those appointed to do the job. Therefore retired veteran DOJ prosecutors with experience prior to current Clinton/Obama holdovers that are the corrupting influences would be a good place to start instead of politicians.
