Just checking, has there ever been a government shutdown where every direct employee did not receive pay for the days they were scheduled to work but did not?
I always see the hysteric suggestions to use sick days and vacation days (which federal employees always seem to have; man, wish I worked a job where I could get paid for not working..) but every time a new stopgap budget goes into effect, it’s also included in an aside that all federal workers got their wages for during the shutdown.

As to Lila, let that be a lesson to you (well, two lessons): 1) save up for a rainy day, and 2) live your previous 50 years in such a way, making such decisions along the way, that you won’t have to do janitor work at age 71.
