LONDONThe British Army is trying to turn the tables on millennial stereotypes, calling for Snowflakes, Me Me Me Millennials, Phone Zombies, and Selfie Addicts to join up in a World-War-II-style recruitment campaign.
Desperate to beef up its dwindling ranks with youngsters, the Ministry of Defence launched a recruitment campaign on Jan. 3 that echoes the famous posters saying: Your Army Needs You.
But instead of the moustached Lord Kitchener, are images of young people tagged as Binge Gamers and Class Clowns.
The new campaign isnt intended to insult the snowflakes, but to showcase the British Armys ability to spot and nourish potential, as part of a broader campaign including TV adverts and radio spots that try to spin the stereotypes.

(Ministry of Defence) At the bottom of each poster is the pay off, a strapline touting positive attributes of each stereotype: Binge Gamers are needed for their drive, Selfie Addicts are needed for their confidence, Me Me Me Millennials for their self-belief, and Phone Zombies for their focus. The Snowflakes, apparently, are needed for their compassion.

The Army sees people differently and we are proud to look beyond the stereotypes and spot the potential in young people, from compassion to self-belief, said Maj. Gen. Paul Nanson CBE of Army Recruiting in a statement via email. We understand the drive they have to succeed and recognise their need for a bigger sense of purpose in a job where they can do something meaningful.
Some have suggested the campaign is ripe for memes, and ridicule, and may backfire most explosively specifically in the group that they want to target.

(MoD/Crown Copyright) This [Me Me Me Millennial poster] really reveals the intellectual and emotional illiteracy of the people behind this recruitment campaign, wrote Frank Furedi, in Spiked magazine. They are confusing the insecure sensibility of the me me me outlook with self-belief. Similarly, praising snowflakes for their compassion is wrongcompassion is a byproduct of an altruistic sense of service, not moral flakiness and being easily offended.
The Armys snowflake campaign actually patronises the young, said Furedi, who has written extensively on the changing values and treatment of young people in Western society. Most young people understand that self-obsession is not a positive thing. Indeed, there are many young people who are idealistic and who are prepared to serve their communities. Yet instead of trying to harness the positive attributes of the young, this campaign infantilises would-be recruits.
The Army has fallen short of its recruiting targets for the last several years. A campaign last year called belonging was criticised for its politically correct depiction of the Army as a Safe Space of diversitycomplete with a tearful soldier opening a letterand did nothing to lift the recruitment rate.
If this were the UK of 80 years ago there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that everyone in the UK would be speaking German today.
Snow flakes and millennials are the generation who were raised by detached birth control users and post abortive disassociated mothers who space the timing of their kids to meet the needs of their outside jobs.
Snowflakes were put into day care at six weeks old and stayed there. They were appendages. Unloved by their mothers
How do adults expect them to act?
They incur tens of thousands in debt as we allow the rate of tuition to climb ten times the rate of inflation.
And we make fun of them? For shame
Millennials? They are getting a little old to be the target for military recruiting.
What was never said was the truth, that standards were set and they were held to them. It's an amazing thing to watch, to see a boy or girl who has never experienced real discipline bloom like a flower into young men and women.
It wasn't until 15-20 years later that we could walk through an airport without some man or woman rushing up to her and saying "Drill Sgt Evans! It's PVT Smith, do you remember me?" She always said Yes.
The Brits made the horrible mistake of drumming down several Highland Regiments and supposedly amalgamating them into one, which only has a small fraction of Highland tradition. They drummed down the Queens Own Highlanders, The Blackwatch Royal Highland Regiment, and the Argyles And Sutherland.
Now they are paying the price for abandoning their Highland Regiments, and rightly so, a British prejudice against the Scottish people. Men came from all over the Commonwealth to join the Highland Regiments and they were not the pansies they are trying to recruit now. Far from it.
So now instead of bringing the Highland Regiments back , they play recruit the pansies games.
Looks good on them.Crazy effers.
“And we make fun of them? For shame”
Based on your comments, they are the product of feminism. That’s where the shame belongs.
But it’s not that simple as the blame should be shared with the education system for prioritizing self esteem over respect for others as well as dumbing them down. Add to that the barrage of propaganda in TV/movies, the MSM, the govt and higher ed. Then give social services the power to destroy families if discipline is too strict couple that with laws that aren’t enforced, endless illegal immigration, normalizing mental illness (trannies) and we have what we have.
The ones to be shamed are the ones that are blocking the wall right now when 93% of Americans want border security. The fault is with 24 years of the rats being in control. The problem is, they know no shame.

“The Nancy Boy Brigade Wants You!”
Will they have to bring their own point-ed sticks?
Good post.
Close order swanning about?
The Nancy Boy Brigade Wants You!
Her Majesty’s Royal Bummer Bend Over Regiment!
Feminism? Ok.
Birth control breeds it. It is the dream life of a 17 year old boy we have created. Boys and men can do whatever they want. They can come and go they’re not going to stop feminism from destroying the culture. They get to have all the benefits of marriage and leave when they want to
Meanwhile kids are growing up in single mother homes
I don’t blame the educational system. It is what parents make it. It’s what parents allow it to be
Parents are in charge of their children’s’ education. Parents I know paid close attention. Switching schools. Home schooling. When both parents are out of the house feeding a huge mortgage the mortgage is in charge. Not the family
I’d be willing to bet they get a lot of muzzies who are interested in joining.
Meanwhile the muzzie invaders are laughing their asses off.
Point well made.
Call for the young from real working backgrounds, the rest will wither in combat.
Enough of the silliness. What we need now is something decent and military - some precision drilling:

Gen X: Gen X was born between 1965 - 1979 and are currently between 39-53 years old (82 million people in U.S.)
Gen Y: Gen Y, or Millennials, were born between 1980 and 1994. They are currently between 24-38 years old. Gen Y.1 = 24-28 years old (31 million people in U.S.) Gen Y.2 = 28-38 (42 million peeps)
Gen Z: Gen Z is the newest generation to be named and were born between 1995 and 2015. They are currently between 3-23 years old (nearly 74 million in U.S.)
Time to start blaming Gen Z. Contemplate this... Millennials are now having children.
This was predicted quite some time ago:
