Colombia and Brazil have a significant problem with Venezuelans seeking sanctuary. To some extent the problem extends into Peru. Since December 2018, a USN hospital ship has been on a humanitarian port-of-call in Colombia to help treat refugees. In the region, upwards of 3M people have fled Venezuela.
In a manner similar to Cuban migrants of more than 50-years ago, Venezuelans of means have been fleeing the country for some years.
