He said that while he did not attend that party where the picture was taken, he did attend another party the same year in which he said he "darkened my face as part of a Michael Jackson costume."
He also said that he did not expect Virginians to believe him immediately or to forgive his actions right away: "I am just asking for that ability to demonstrate that the person I was is not the man I am today.

Exactly. So the governors statement proves he was already thinking ‘racially’ by identifying MJ’s race instead of what he actually looked like.

I just watched the press con. Not convinced. He certainly presented as if what he was saying he was true but how can you trust a politician?
The admission of doing partial blackface while dressing as MJ for a dance contest is just a diversion - see, I’m being honest about that (since you hadn’t heard of it before) so I’m being honest when I say I’m not in the pic.
Plus, it came out that it was very common for the school to have blackface used at parties and many such pics were in the books. The school was going to review the books and make sure to tell folks now that it’s not appropriate.
So if it was a common thing to do at the school, it just increases the odds he did do that as the pic shown was not some kind of one-off event.
It’s fun to watch democrats out-stupid themselves.

Did he ever date Chrissy Blakey Ford or attend parties with her? She liked to dresss up in painted faces for her year book too.
Ok, lets take him at his word for a moment (I know, it’s hilrious), but lets go through this exercise. So he is now claiming he did wear blackface imitating Michael Jackson. You would certainly remember being next to someone in a clan outfit would you not? When you saw this picture in blackface next to someone in clan robes, your first reaction should still be a vehement denial not an apology.
And Arthel just said President Trump needs to denounce people who do racist things while wearing MAGA hats.
I didn’t see the press conference. Did anyone ask Northam how that picture got on his yearbook page in the first place?
Someone should ask him to see HIS yearbook to see if there are autographs from fellow students.
