I don’t think it is going to blow over.
Fairfax is facing impeachment articles being filed Monday (see my other posting right before this one).
The optics:
BLACK MAN TAKEN OUT OF OFFICE.
So Northam opens a can of worms and the African American takes the fall?
No.
Dems will be demanding his head as well. They can’t run on the false narrative of Trump=racist in 2020 with a Virginia (swing state) Governor in the KKK/blackface photo out there. He’s doing too much damage to the party.
But that photo isn’t a legit reason to impeach. Look for some other scandal to erupt to force him out the door. They’re digging right now you can bet.
The moonwalking press conference... killing live babies. God knows what’s next out of this guy.
The governor will be gone before the 2020 election; right now they just need to replace the lieutenant governor first so that Northam can step down with a safe replacement.
This debacle will play horribly for the Dems in 2020 (nationally) in terms of both blacks and women.
Seems like the black alleged rapist is in the worst shape right now, but they can’t take him out without taking out the alleged racists around him. And they can’t possibly take out all three without doing it in an order that would assure Democrat control.
