The point wasn’t that they have no beliefs, but that their beliefs are not judeo Christian. They live under the judeo Christian code but actually have their own individual moral code which often conflicts with the predominant judeo Christian code. The non-believer label refers only to a rejection of belief in judeo Christian God.
Example: The marxist believes the totalitarian state is supreme and there is no God. Man causes and solves his own problems. that individual can justify every attack on God and God’s believers with his own moral imperative. In that case he is “justified” in perpetrating a hoax crime to advance his own moral imperative because his end justifies the means used.
