Where Trump won: Historic ICE funding, triple wall miles, killed ‘poison pills’...
washingtonexaminer ^ | 2/15/2019 | Paul Bedard

Insiders who worked on the deal said that compared to going along with a spending continuing resolution, the GOP scored several wins....“I know the conventional wisdom is that he lost on the wall in this package. But he gained … under impossible conditions,” ...While a country mile away from being able to declare it a victory, the number of wins the GOP won in the three weeks of negotiations were sizable.

Compared to a simple continuing resolution, or CR, with nothing extra beyond current spending levels set in fiscal 2018, Trump gained extra funding for the wall. A CR would have provided $500 million, said the source, but Trump received $1.375 billion. That is “triple” the number of miles in the fiscal 2018 budget and “nearly three times as much as would have been available under a CR,” ....On detention beds, the number increased 13% over fiscal 2018. And when another $750 million in transfer and reprogramming authority is added in, it represents a 44% increase, said the source.

... the bill provides historic funding levels for ICE and Customs and Border Protection, a rejection of liberal efforts to kill the agencies. It was a 7% budget increase for a combined $21.5 billion.

What’s more, Trump and his team blocked several moves by Pelosi and other Democrats to fill the deal with anti-wall moves .....

(HAT TIP sara barracuda) Democrats will fight to the death to prevent a wall; they need illegal voters for their very survival as a party.
MILLIONS of illegal aliens pouring into our country is NO crisis to them; it means more Democrap power over us.

"Pelosi and Schumer gave us directions to electoral college states."
"We're already registered to vote Democrat."

The useless GOP should have funded this the first year...

All the GOP wants is money from stupid people...I was stupid til Trump was elected..

It is Trump against the swamp...

The problem is it will take thirty years to drain the swamp..

Like Reagan everything will go back to normal after Trump is gone..

Reagans biggest mistake George Bush

Wait a second. Does this mean Trump didn’t capitulate to the Democrats and all the anti-Trump rhetoric on this site has been based on fake news?

Nice try but the bill forbids a wall and mandates a fence with pedestrian walkways and it allows Rat mayors to block installing said fence in their jurisdiction.

The GOP had 2 years to get Pres. Trump’s agenda really going and thanks to never-Trumpers Paul Lyin and Mitch McComical the people lost.

It’s a spending bill (does not supercede ANY laws so NO amnesty) and it expires Sept. 30 - ALL provisions. Trump won’t be using the money in this CR in the next 6 months so any ‘wall’ restrictions, talking to mayors, etc. will be out the window.

He takes a few minutes to explain his qualifications - once you get past that, it’s all good stuff.

Unfortunately, the Never-Trumpers have become emboldened lately. It is like playing a game of Whack-A-Mole with them. The little twerps pop up as fast as you can knock them back down.

...

Even if they don’t vote they mean more congressional districts and electoral votes for the Democrats.

Wait; the Democrats can stop sidewalks from being built? HO horrible. Guess they were worried about who would be available to cut the grass and trim the bushes along the walkways...

it only forbids the specific under allocated in this bill to be used for those purposes. Trump can use the these funds in other ways and divert OTHER funds to the wall.

Step one is to build the wall and stop the invasion.
Step two is to rub it in the RATS faces by kicking illegals that are already here out of our country - anywhere and everywhere they’re found.

The RATS need to be punished for attempting to destroy our national security.

No, they can block the fence construction smart guy. There’s a lot of “it’s just a few months” talk again. Well it’s been 2 1/2 years of “it’s only a few months”. l hope all of you who think Trumps got this and will get around all these restrictions are right because he is the last hope. He never should have signed that Rat open border POS bill l stand by that belief.

please read the many other articles/postings in recent day that explain or have links in replys that explain Trump can use all the other monies he has/is securing for border wall during this emergency, and save the 1.3 billion from this recently signed bill that comes with stipulations for use last.

Trump can still accomplish much with the 7 or more billion he plans to get thru other places then this restrictive spending bill.

Others also stated that lawsuits by border land owners etc can only be brought against this in certain places so Trump would be wise to use the 7 billion not from spending bill to build wall in those areas with more favorable judges possibly like TX, and use the spending bill 1.3b in areas not so favorable judges like CA or NM.

or you can keep whining points that have already had light shed on them. We are where we are Tump is trying to get some thing done from this point forward and done legally which is hard to do while almost everyone is thwarting his efforts at most every turn.

The Trump haters here on FR are sounding more and more like their kissing cousins in the Democrat Party every day. They can only rant and rave with more doom and gloom abandoning facts along the way as they make their miserable march.

The only hope that they have left is that Mitt Romney and/or Rand Paul will save them and deliver what is left of the Republican Part to the Democrats and establish a Vichy government.

I can comfortably predict Trump has a plan to bypass the union contract for life groups on construction and will use other means to expedite the construction, such as the Army Corps of Engineers.

That’s exactly what it means. The CR overreaches into CIC constitutionality now that Trump declared a national emergency. The Army corps is now in charge meaning the congress cannot constitutionally require Trump to abide by the poison pills. Trump checkmated them in grand fashion and they don’t even realize it yet. I believe this is why he waited to declare. All the can do is blubber in their beer.
