More from the articleHis mother, Dhakira Talbot, said the school should have handled the situation differently and is working with the Poor and Minority Justice Association, a nonprofit organization, to get the charges dropped.

“I’m upset, I’m angry. I’m hurt,” Talbot said. “More so for my son. My son has never been through anything like this. I feel like this should’ve been handled differently. If any disciplinary action should’ve been taken, it should’ve been with the school. He shouldn’t have been arrested.”

According to the school’s student handbook, students can opt out of the pledge with written permission from a parent or guardian. But a spokesperson for the school said the substitute teacher was not aware of the policy.

The district also told the substitute teacher she could no longer work at any schools within the district.

[ An 11-year-old Florida student was arrested for allegedly threatening to beat his teacher because he refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, calling the pledge “racist” to black people. ]

When is his rap album coming out?

Somebody at the school may have encouraged him to do this. After all, it would be a fitting thing for someone at a school named after Walkin’ Lawton Chiles to do... /s - actually.

The boy needs to learn how to handle differing opinions.
When you lose a debate, or don’t have an answer, it is not acceptable for you to threaten the questioner with death.
That only makes you look ignorant with a short fuse and a tiny brain.

Naturally, the School District sides with the juvenile delinquent. And they wonder why there is a shortage of teachers for public schools. People tire of getting dressed, driving to work, just to be treated like dung by little gangsters who hate any and all authority figures.

A 6th grade boy with this piss poor attitude?

he’ll be dead before he’s 20. But he will be killed by a fellow black gang banger, not a racist white cop.

Funny how the accompanying stock photo to the story shows a classroom of well behaved white kids.

“They brought me here,”

Foolish me. I thought the international slave trade was abolished in the US in 1808. And to imagine that it was still active two hundred years later.

The lad is probably miffed because he was not permanently expelled and now he will have to go back to school after a couple of days.

I can’t be the only one to be sick and tired of all these fake victims crying racism at every turn in the road.

These professional victims, now as young as 11, have weaponized their protected but racist status as victims.

So freaking sick of it...

I’ll never see these racist protected and privileged self-styled victims other than what they truly are. Trash.

“...she told the student, “Why if it was so bad here, he did not go to another place to live.”

“They brought me here,” the boy reportedly replied.”

He’s got the attitude down, why bother to work for yourself when you can be the ultimate victim and blame everyone else.

Maybe many taken down now but recent 2 to 3 years of Youtubes had one school video, for example, with a woman in her late fifties defying a racist, sneering, hostile black teen in her class. She stood her ground telling him to go back to his chair. He defied her, punched her in the face and shoved her with his forearm. She stumbled and fell backwards on the floor. Students cheered and laughed at her.

This is NOT odd or atypical or unusual. Some student videos are taken down fast but while there show the pattern of urban public school “education” and the terrible lives of teachers today. Ask around among young people and they’ll show you some they have stored on their cell phones.

Having been a substitute teacher for a very short time, I understand the position she was in. The Principle should have taken over and diffused the situation and later explained the rules to the sub.
But also having been a 6th grader, standing for principles, the principle should have discussed and emotionalessly challenged the kid concerning his threat and how successful such a tactic is not as well as acknowledging his right not stand for the P of A. It might not have worked but there is a possibility it would.
