Please don’t fret because I am never moving to North Carolina. A friend moved from ny to Fla to cary. I visited her every year. Lovely brick 4 bedroom home good schools low taxes. It was boring. I live 30 min from ocean, 45 min train to Broadway,2 hr from mountains. Voted straight Republican.

I’ve known far too many people in NYC to now it takes hours just to drive a few miles. 2 hours to the mountains, only at 2:00am.

Unfortunately, gcparent, you’re one of many whose votes are cancelled by the folks in NYC, Albany, Buffalo, etc and all the illegals that enjoy the privilege of voting.
NY was a great place to grow up and if one can afford to stay there and live their lives, without worrying about the ever increasing property and school taxes, I guess it still is.
But the fact is, it’s too expensive, cold, crappy, etc for a lot of folks and they seek opportunity elsewhere. I’m not saying that they all move South or to Texas, buy a F250 Super Duty w/ 6.7 diesel, a .270 for deer season and start watching Nascar, but they need to keep that high tax, ideology where they came from.
