Yes, Jacksonville is a good place. The beaches are right there and can be nice. The guys need to be paid better. The Marines deserve better. These are frontline people, let’s take care of them.

It is certainly better than the ghastly place it was in the 50’s with nothing but loan companies, used car lots, barrooms and massage parlors against a dirty gritty urban backdrop. As with many garrison towns it had all the bad things of a small town and a large city and none of the good.
