AUSTIN — Today, former state senator Konni Burton announced the launch of The Texan, a news outlet dedicated to shedding light on the stories that matter most to Texans.

Recent surveys have shown that 7 out of 10 Americans believe the media knowingly spreads misinformation at least some of the time. The Texan is here to change that, with the goal of ensuring Texans have access to reliable and accurate reporting in order to make informed decisions for their state.

“Trust in legacy news organizations is waning,” said Konni Burton, founder and CEO of The Texan. “Our mission is to provide relevant, objective news in a manner that respects the worldview of Texans.”

The Texan is comprised of an energetic and talented team who believe in informing the public without the agenda-driven narrative of legacy media. Drew White serves as The Texan’s senior editor and brings years of experience in public policy, both at the state and federal level.

The Texan’s committed reporters will focus on the most critical policy issues facing the state in the final weeks of the 86th Legislature. These issues include property tax reform, school finance, abortion, border security, and the state’s ongoing budget debate.

Additionally, The Texan will feature updates on Texas lawmakers in Washington D.C., reporting on statewide campaigns, and profiles of individuals who embody the Texas spirit.

“I am absolutely thrilled to finally reveal this exciting project. We have a wonderful team who have already hit the ground running in order to provide coverage on the issues that matter most to Texans,” said Burton. “Check out our launch video, and join the discussion on social media by using the hashtag #IAmTexan.”

To learn more about where The Texan began, listen to the outlet’s first podcast, an interview with Konni Burton.

I just found out about this. I have no financial interest, just want to have a conservative paper/site come along to fight the "democrat media"

it’s a podcast? Not being very tech savy, I didn't see that it was a podcast, I thought a paper. My bad. But it will be conservative info.

That is the point.
