Hey, what if via tolerance there are fewer and fewer taboos..?

It MAKES SENSE that they move the goalposts, that they reach out to trangress SOMETHING that’s still taboo, in an effort to re-capture eroticism, not just sex, of which they have had plenty.

What I’m saying is that NO amount of tolerance is going to stop them.

And think of how adolescents delight in transgressing taboos and outraging their elders? This is a sub-culture that is permanently adolescent and obsessed with eroticism, so you are right: no amount of tolerance will satisfy them. They will search for ways to outrage because that is one of the only things that brings them joy. They are too jaded to feel joy in simple pleasures.

Eroticism is like any drug (i.e., it is still basically the brain's reaction to chemical stimuli). And like drug use, the brain requires stronger and stronger erotic experience to produce the same or similar euphoria...until eventually the euphoria is unachieveable.

But after the ability to achieve euphoria is gone, the addiction remains.
