Tom Homan Identifies Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan as Deep State Leaker, Trying to Undermine
CONSERVATIVE TREEHOUSE ^ | 6/22/2019 | SUNDANCE

BACKSTORY: A little more than a week ago President Trump identified former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Tom Homan, as a likely candidate for the position of border czar. “He’ll be a border czar, he’ll be very much involved in the border, he’ll be reporting directly to me,” Mr. Trump said.

However, in a follow up interview with Lou Dobbs, Tom Homan said there were discussions, and he wants to support the president, but he would only take the position if certain “structural changes” within the internal DHS system were made. In essence, Homan appeared to be saying he’d only take the job if chain-of-authority was changed, and all the hurdles to doing the job were removed.

Today, Mr. Homan seemed to clearly identify Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan as the person working against the interests of the President; leaking information to impede the immigration policy of President Trump; and likely the reason why Homan would only consider entering back into the administration if the process was changed to allow him to work around a corrupt Acting DHS Secretary, McAleenan.

Why is it so hard to get rid of him? Is he with the SES?

No one here appreciates the process of naming/vetting someone for any position, let alone all.

First, you have a limited pool of qualified people (i.e., qualified by apparent education, previous experience in a job they are being considered for, etc). When Trump went outside that pool to fill the SecState position with Tillerson, it didn’t work. I DO think business people can do most of these jobs; Rex was just a dud.

Trump doesn’t know 3,000 of these people, probably didn’t know 500 of them. So he relies on all sorts of people for suggestions-—DoD people for defense, labor people for labor, and so on. Steve Bannon asked me early if I wanted the Library of Congress position, and I said no. I’m not qualified as an administrator, and I hate D.C. But I’m sure there were thousands of offers like this.

Next, once Trump does get a name, like Andy Pudzker, the vetting starts an innocuous stuff from childhood surfaces. So he loses a bunch there. We only know of the few public ones.

Third, keep in mind that the MOST likely to survive the vetting is someone who has already held gubment jobs, i.e., the swamp, like this Macaleen guy. At that point, Trump has to ask, “Is this guy permanent swamp who will work against me, or is he a swamper who tries to do a ‘good enough’ job that he can stay in the swamp?” I think the list is about 50/50 of the names he gets.

Fourth, if it’s a position that has to have the approval of the senate, there is no way a hard-core Trumper gets through without a major fight. So, back up to #3: if the person has been in gubment at all, and is known to be a Trump-type person before 2016, that person has made enemies of people like Mininon and, earlier, McTurd. In short, a senate confirmation is anything but assured. One way-—in theory-—to overcome this was by naming a woman or black. But of course today a female or black candidate who is an R has no advantage at all.

Finally, at some point Trump sees many of these people as a very narrow tool for achieving a single goal. This was the case with McMaster, whose strength was ground war in the ME. Once ISIS was gone, McMaster-—known geopolitically to be Islamofriendly-—was out.

Finally, you have the complete paradoxes. EVERYONE thought Sessions would be phenomenally loyal; he had a great record in AL of breaking the Klan with indictments and jail; he had no “apparent” connection to the swamp. I’ve spoken with both Bannon and Richard Baris about Sessions, and while there are a lot of theories ranging from “he was threatened with serious moral stuff” to “He was afraid of Mulehead”, no one actually knows what happened with Sessions.

In short, it looks easy: “Just pick people who agree with you.” But imagine most of us were handed a major airline to run: how many would know 3,000 reliable people who could actually do all the jobs who would buy into the airline’s vision? It’s not that easy.

Reads like a win some lose some battle. It’s crystal clear though the swamp will outlast Trump. Whether it’s 4 years or 8 years all will be undone with the stroke of a pen besides, Judicial appointments.
