Tensions were already smoldering in the Oregon Senate Wednesday, when Sen. Brian Boquist, R-Dallas, poured gasoline on the situation, suggesting he would shoot and potentially kill any state trooper sent to haul him unwillingly back to the Capitol.
After Senate Republican Leader Herman Baertschiger Jr. said Tuesday that his caucus was prepared to take actions to prevent passage of a major climate change bill, Gov. Brown announced on Wednesday that she was ready to answer Republican stonewalling by calling lawmakers back for a special session.
Brown hinted that she would be willing to send state troopers to round up Republicans if they walk out in the final days of the regular legislative session, saying in a statement that she is in close communication with Oregon State Police. Thats an option Democratic senators and the governor did not use earlier this year, when Senate Republicans first brought the Senate to a standstill by walking out and preventing the necessary quorum.
The governors hint that she would consider sending troopers in the event of a second walkout triggered an aggressive response from Boquist, which was captured by a KGW news team at the Capitol.
This is what I told the superintendent, Boquist said, referring to OSP Superintendent Travis Hampton. Send bachelors and come heavily armed. Im not going to be a political prisoner in the state of Oregon. Its just that simple.

Send bachelors and come heavily armed.”
I love that!

I get the point of their cause. I do. But using empty rhetoric like this.... Not a good idea.
Well, a “measured” response to the threat of armed capture.
The problem is that there are two Americas. And we cannot coexist like we used to.
If someone sends armed men after you to enforce socialist tyranny then an armed response is the correct response.
I promise that if this man makes good on his statement then I will not shed one single tear for those who enforce socialism at their own peril.
But it’s not a problem when a Democrat threatens to “nuke” gun owners.
Lefties didn’t have a problem with that.
Contrast that with the Wisconsin Fleebaggers who hit in a Rockford, IL hotel to avoid voting on Gov. Walker’s Act 10 reforms.
Regardless of the specifics, it is nice to see pols standing up against the oppressive left —— long overdue.
Sounds like a “modest proposal” to me.
I’m telling ya, for the longest time I thought the idea of a CWII was just FReepers needing therapy.
Now, we DO NOT KNOW which gunshot is going to put the wheels in motion.
And once them wheels get rolling, they are hard to stop.
Finally, a Republican with some marbles.
I am a 57 year old fat white guy and I guarantee no State Trooper would find me if I didn’t want them to. And I wouldn’t need to find a remote cabin.
It would be nice to cool down these tensions. Compare the amount of people we lost in the first Civil War/War between the States and those we lost in all other wars. Just about everyone calling for another one of those would regret it very shortly after it got hot, if it did.
State police outside of the states borders have no such jurisdiction unless the governor of that other state grants authority in writing. There can be arrest warrants issued that other states law enforcement can employ but there needs to be a judge involved and a law (typically a felony) broken. There is interstate hot pursuit jurisdiction but this doesn’t qualify.
