Sounds like the AMD-65 kit. A shame about the barrel. I think they’re legal if you weld on an extension. Did it have that ugly folding crutch stock, too? Not the prettiest AK variant.

I’m NOT at all sure if it was originally an AMD-65 or not. - IF it was it’s NOT the version pictured in my books.- The BEST thing about the parts kit that I bought was that it was “dirt cheap”.= 60 bucks.
(Inasmuch as I only paid 10 bucks for the new/surplus barrel, that I bought from another “builder” & that I used on the build, I didn’t much care. = I have only about 125.oo total in my “junk box AK”.)

The “parts kit” came with a fixed stock, which was WAY TOO SHORT for my long arms. = I bought the replacement on “The Worldwideweird”, of a material that looks similar to the plastic stock on an M-16.
(As I said, ONE of the things that I like about “building” a weapon is that I like the fact that I can build whatever pleases ME.)

One thing that I find “rather interesting” is that numerous people, who looked at my “sort of an AK”, invariably INSIST on telling me that they would have built something really different than I built. = So far, I’ve resisted the temptation to tell any of the “critics” that when/if they build their “AK clone” that they are FREE to build whatever they want.
(When/IF I build my “junk box truck carbine”, which will be only about 27 inches long, with the stock folded, I feel sure that everyone will tell me what they would have done differently on that one, too.)
