I object to the fact that you get special privileges for being a descendant of American Indians, or any other ethnic group. One law for all. No exceptions. I don’t object to her lying about it because the practice is illegal, unconstitutional, and unfair and so what lizzy did is not a crime.

You have to understand that in identity politics, you have to live the culture of the oppressed.
If Liz had grown up on a reservation and had suffered with native Americans than she might have some standing with them. She has not done the time, so they will deny her the right and privileges of identifying with them.
To be a native American involves more than DNA, it involves being a recognized member of a tribe. She can have all the native American or Latino DNA she wants, but when she put down Native American on her employment forms, she cheated and everyone knows that.
During the great westward expansion, many white settlers were killed and their children adopted by tribes. Those people were considered by the tribes to be part of that tribe, their DNA did not matter. What mattered was language, customs and contributions toward the tribe.
I have a friend whose father was an Indian Agent for a large tribe by the BIA. He was a fair man that was respected by the tribe. As a showing of gratitude his son (my former coworker) was adopted by the tribe as a member. This has given him all kinds of opportunities. DNA really doesn’t matter, who is on the tribal roll is what is important.
O.K. she apologized for lying about having Native American blood. But the lies acquired for her a cushy professor sinecure at $400K per annum, to teach one class. Did I miss the part where she offered to repay any of that ill-gotten largesse? She didn’t offer that? Oh. How silly of me!
