Ive never again experienced one of those gorgeous September days we get in the DC area, without thinking of 9/11.
So true, today is warmer but a beautiful sky and breezy, a lot like 9/11/01.
I was in DC, working in a windowless office in L'Enfant Plaza. Received a call from my wife saying she had talked to her son who said a FEDEX plane had hit one of the twin towers. I immediately logged onto FR to see what I could find out. Followed one of the original threads and I believe within the 1st 20 posts, someone emphatically stated it was terrorism, soon after the 2nd plane hit. Heard about the Pentagon, went outside to hike about a block up to a Potomac overlook and saw the smoke/fire at the Pentagon across the river. Whole city in total gridlock, took me 3 hours to get home after waiting most of day. Surreal day.
I remember thinking/wondering how long the 'United' state of mind everyone had would last.

I was living at the time in an apartment complex in P.G. County. Over the ensuing days and weeks after 9/11, we saw American flags sprouting on balconies, cars, in windows, EVERYWHERE, in my neighborhood.
This severe division among us didn’t really begin to happen until we elected that Obama ‘post turtle’. The division was engineered and brainwashed into the people; the natural inclination of Americans is very different.
