Former First Lady Michelle Obama stood in defense of the proposed Obama Presidential Center site in Jackson Park as an intentional, strategic, powerful decision.
“Barack’s presidential library could have been anywhere in the world, because there’s so many people who feel like he is their president all over the world, alright?" she said at today's Obama Summit. "New York wanted it, Hawaii wants it, because it’s also an economic engine. It will be a visited presidential library, because it’s going to be alive. It’s a first. We had to think, where do we put this resource?” she said. “Well, what better place to put it than in our backyard?"
The center faces some organized pushback from preservationists who do not want to see the historic nature of Daniel Burnham’s park altered, and from community groups pressing for protections against being pushed out from rising property values. The proposal is still under federal review.

There has been a split in south side Chicago for many years. Obama was alligned with Cecil Partee, majority leader in the State Senate and also from the Southside. Also in that same establishment Democrat Southside clique were the Cook County Chairman Stroger and the City Council leader Beavers.
For many years in opposition to that clique has been Jessee Jackson, Congressman Jessee Jackson, the son, Operation Push, The IVI-IPO (Think of the old Americans for Democratic Action and Bernie voters), Kenwood Oakland Community Organization and other more or less independent community organizations.
They resented that Obama rose and not JJ (either father or son).
A vacancy occurred in the 7th ward aldermanic seat, the heart of this embattled area. Darcel Beavers, the daughter of the city Council boss in the adjacent ward was appointed until the next election. Part of the 7th had been in Daddy Beaver’s warn prior to redistricting.
The the election came. Sandi Jackson, the daughter-in-law of JJ and wife of JJ Jr ran in the election against the appointed daughter of the establishment, Darcel Beavers.
I describe that aldermanic race as the race with the most voter fraud and the most vote count fraud of any in my lifetime. That is because both sides pulled out all the stops in this pro and anti Obama fight between surrogates.
Sandi Jackson won. Obama and Beavers-Stroger-Partee and the white establishment also did not like it that Sandi Jackson won. They were not good losers.
Obama became President, appointed the US Attorney for Northern IL and sicked him on Congressman Jackson and his aldermanic wife Sandi. The charges were but petty. Half the Congressmen in IL are dirtier than the Jacksons... from both Parties.
Republicans Shimkus, Davis especially are dirty. But Obama’s US Attorney did not go after them. Shimkus and Davis have an insurance policy. When Republican Denny Hastert was Speaker of the House he appointed Shimkus to lead the investigation to find all the dirt on fellow Congress critters, both R and D. Shimkus hired Davis to find that dirt and when a fellow Republican in that Central IL seat mysteriously resigned ... Acted as if someone had something on him, Republican Davis was appointed to that Congressional vacancy.
So Obama passed over very dirty Congress Critters to throw Congressman Jackson and Sandi Jackson out of office mid term and send Congressman Jackson to jail with (I think) Sandi getting some kind of out-of-jail sentence.
The wounds in that community have not healed. That Obama wants to take Park land next to the U of Chicago and the big Museum is seen as an isult to the community. It is an insult the the Bernie types who are into saving the Parkland as green space.
That is the “short” story. There are many digressions and side stories. I mostly use the examples of voter fraud in the most corrupt election in my lifetime. (The highest percentage of corrupt votes of any election.)

That’s not bad. I would say build it in the middle east, that’s who his people are. He sure didn’t care about anybody in the states except for Goldman Sachs, who I’m sure gave him a nice fat kickback for the bank bail-out that never should’ve happened.

Well now! After reading that account of the background, I find all of it quite believable. I can picture Obama and his Gang acting all high and mighty, then eager to exact revenge when they didn’t get their way. I tell ya, it sounds worse than an episode of Peyton Place!
