As that happens the U.S. will not intervene in favor of Syria and Russia/Assad will not (then) contest U.S. control of Syrian oil fields that the U.S. and the Kurds took back from ISIS in north western Syria.
Erdogan does not give a dam about the Syrian Opposition, other than as his tool for permanent (he hopes) occupation of part of northern Syria.
