FYI...DDT is still being manufactured and used around the World but not in the USA.

China, India & N Korea manufacture and export DDT.

re: “But the patent is about to expire,”

On Freon, yeah, you’re barking up the WRONG tree.

Freon, like Freon 12, per se, was never patented.

Prove me wrong.

Be advised, I’ve got the original patent numbers dating back over 70 years on this subject, and they are ALL expired now, so your ‘contention’ “the patent is about to expire” ain’t it ...

That may well be true, but the fact remains that many, many millions have died as a result of malaria.

December 31, 1928
Charles Franklin Kettering
Thomas Midgley was chosen by Kettering to head the research into the new refrigerants. In 1928, Midgley and Kettering invented a “miracle compound” called Freon. Frigidaire received the first patent, US#1,886,339, for the formula for CFCs on December 31, 1928.

“R-12 Retrofitting: Are we really doing it because DuPont’s patent for Freon® ran out?”
by John R. Hess
From May/August 2001 Cool Profit$ Magazine

Opening excerpt:

Every week I hear somebody say “this whole R-12 retrofit debacle is happening just because DuPont’s patent on Freon ran out.” Think about that. Assuming it to be true, then for all these years DuPont would have to have been the only company manufacturing and selling R-12 (not!). And then, anticipating that they were going to lose control of the product, they chose to sabotage R-12 by getting the EPA to ban its existence.

Continuing this doomsday scenario, losing their monopoly on the auto refrigerant, they “invented” R-134a and miraculously got it universally accepted by the world as R-12’s replacement. And they did this all the while knowing that they would somehow be able continue to monopolize sales of R-134a as well??? Doubtful!

Obviously those concepts are false. Along with DuPont, Atofina Chemicals (formerly Elf Atochem), Ineos Fluor (formerly ICI Klea) and Honeywell (formerly Allied Chemical and Allied-Signal) were all major vendors of R-12, and are today major suppliers of R-134a. The “other three” did not pay royalties to DuPont for their sales of R-12, and will not for R-134a.

Who holds the trademarks and patents for Freon?

We know that the registration for the trademark “Freon” was filed on December 8, 1931 and registered May 10, 1932. It was issued for “Fluorinated Hydrocarbons Used As Refrigerants, Propellants and Fire Extinguishing Preparations,” and was first used in commerce December 1, 1931.

The registrant was Kinetic Chemicals, Inc. of Wilmington, Delaware, which became E. I. du Pont De Nemours and Company.

Patent US#1,886,339 was NOT specifically for Freon, by the way. It was for a “REFRIGERATING APPARATUS” which contained Freon. There is a bit of a distinction.

THIS is how the patent “opens”:

This invention relates to refrigerating ap
paratus of the absorption type.

One of the objects of the invention is to
provide absorption refrigerating apparatus
which may be readily and-effectively cooled
b air.

Another object is to provide an apparatus
using solid absorbent and which produces sub-
stantially continuous refrigeration.

Still another object of the invention 15 to
provide an improved and simpli?ed arrange
ment of the component parts of the apparatus.

Further objects and advantages of the present
invention will be apparent from the fol-
lowing description, reference being had to
the accompanying drawings, wherein a pre-
ferred form of the present invention is clearly
shown.

Yeah ... and the fact monkeys/primates show 97% (?) of the DNA of humans (or the other way around?) - yeah, an ‘anomaly of the mind’ too huh ...

Nice sarcasm. What if both species have the same creator? Like the Tesla Model S, and Tesla Model 3?

They do both have the same Creator; what drives you to think differently?

The difference is, I’m not putting God into a corner dictating how he works his miracles.
